That contrast gives artists, cosplayers, and other creators a clear starting point without requiring them to copy a single official design detail beyond what the game establishes.
Who is CatNap in Poppy Playtime?
Mob Entertainment describes CatNap as a calming presence among the Smiling Critters who likes watching his friends sleep. The official character page says: “CatNap is a calming presence for the critters and ensures he and his friends always have the right amount of sleep to jumpstart the morning’s play!” Read the official CatNap character profile.
That gentle toy persona is only one side of the character. In the story, CatNap is Experiment 1188, formerly a child named Theodore Grambell. The official account says the Prototype saved Theodore, and that experimentation changed CatNap’s mind and memory without ending his belief that the Prototype would save him.
What is CatNap’s role in Chapter 3?
Chapter 3: Deep Sleep takes place in Playcare, an orphanage beneath the toy factory. Mob Entertainment’s chapter page describes Playcare as filled with red smoke and says players need a gas mask to explore it safely. The chapter released on January 30, 2024, according to the official Chapter 3 page.

CatNap’s transformation makes him more than a creepy version of a friendly toy. The official character account says he turns Playcare into both a hunting ground and a place of worship for the Prototype. The contrast between sleep and danger, and between a reassuring critter and a horror antagonist, is central to depicting him accurately.
How to portray CatNap in creative work
There is no single official method for making a CatNap costume, plush, drawing, or other fan work. The official sources establish his character and story, but do not prescribe a craft pattern, materials, or a canonical manufacturing process. Treat the following as creative direction rather than official design requirements:
Rank #2
- FAN-FAVORITE CHARACTER: Expertly detailed and spookily stylized to bring your favorite Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 icon to life!
- SIGNATURE SNARL: A standout piece for any Poppy Playtime collection, featuring Monster CatNap’s unsettling grin and haunting eyes!
- SUPER SOFT AND DETAILED: Made with high-quality, colorful fabric and detailed embroidery that brings the feline’s spooky appearance to life.
- BIG AND HUGGABLE: Measures a generous 12.5 inches, perfect for cozy hugs and standout displays.
- OFFICIALLY LICENSED: Genuine Poppy Playtime merchandise, by PhatMojo.
- Choose the interpretation first. A calming toy portrayal can emphasize the sleep-associated, friendly side of the Smiling Critters. A horror interpretation can draw on CatNap’s role in Playcare and the chapter’s red-smoke atmosphere.
- Use the contrast deliberately. A design can keep the toy-like presentation while suggesting the menace behind it, or focus on one side of the character. Either is an artistic choice, not an official ranking of interpretations.
- Separate canon from invention. The official profile establishes CatNap’s identity, history, and allegiance. Details beyond that—such as construction methods, materials, or additional behavior—should be presented as your own choices rather than game canon.
- Label fan work clearly. Mob Entertainment’s fan-generated content policy says fan content must not be presented in a way that makes people believe it is official or endorsed. It also restricts commercial activity and unauthorized use of company intellectual property. Consult the live policy for its exact terms before selling or monetizing derivative work.
Is there an official CatNap plush?
Mob Entertainment’s official store lists a CatNap plush with a listed height of 14 inches and an 18-inch tail. The listing also says the zipper is decorative and there is no pocket, the plush is unscented, red gas is not included, and it does not stand on its own. When checked, the listing was marked unavailable; stock and price can change. See the official CatNap plush listing for current details.
The official CatNap collection also shows items such as a glow-in-the-dark enamel pin, T-shirts, and patterned socks. These are optional merchandise and references, not requirements for creating fan work.

If searching for a “CatNap plush toy” on a third-party marketplace, check the current listing, seller, and product details before buying. The official store’s unavailable listing does not establish that a marketplace listing is authorized or authentic, and Mob Entertainment does not endorse unofficial fan work merely because it depicts CatNap.
