What access do you need for Western Skyrim?
ZeniMax’s Western Skyrim travel instructions say players need Greymoor or ESO Plus. The older page calls it the “Greymoor chapter,” but a later support article clarifies that after the Blackwood chapter launched, Greymoor became a DLC pack available through ESO Plus. Read together, the support pages establish two routes: own Greymoor, or have an active ESO Plus membership that grants access to it.
Buying the base game alone is not identified in ZeniMax’s Western Skyrim instructions as sufficient. The support pages were checked on October 8, 2026; membership catalogs and in-game menus can change.
How to enter Western Skyrim
If you own Greymoor
You can travel to Western Skyrim from the map using the Solitude Docks Wayshrine. Alternatively, open Collections > Stories > Chapters, select Greymoor, and start “The Gathering Storm.” A new character can also enter by completing the Greymoor chapter tutorial. These routes are listed in ZeniMax’s Western Skyrim access instructions.

If you have ESO Plus
Find Greymoor in Collections > Stories and accept its starting quest. ZeniMax says ESO Plus grants access to Greymoor as a DLC pack, and its broader ESO Plus account guidance explains that included DLC access lasts while the membership is active.
Will access continue if ESO Plus ends?
No. ESO Plus provides access to included DLC while the membership is active. ZeniMax says individually purchased DLC packs provide permanent access if the membership lapses. Does your character need to be a certain level?
No level requirement is stated for Western Skyrim. ZeniMax describes the zone as suitable for new and veteran players alike.
