In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, steps traveled by bike count toward hatching an Egg. Put the Egg in your party and ride while moving; hatching progress depends on steps, not elapsed time.
How to hatch an Egg while riding your bike
- Add the Egg to your party. An Egg stored elsewhere will not travel with you. The Pokémon Company’s official BDSP Trainers Guide says to keep it in your party.
- Ride and keep moving. Bike-traveled steps count. The guide notes that the Pokétch’s Pedometer app records bike steps that contribute to hatching Pokémon Eggs.
- Continue until it hatches. The game tracks steps, and the number required varies by species; there is no single step count that applies to every Egg.
Does biking hatch Eggs faster than walking?
The official guide confirms that both walking and biking make progress, but it does not establish that one travel mode is inherently faster. The relevant measure is steps taken, not time spent riding or walking.
How to speed up hatching
For an optional boost, keep a Pokémon with Flame Body or Magma Armor in your team. The official guide identifies either ability as a way to speed Egg hatching. Neither ability is required for bike steps to count.
