Yes— you can play Jackbox for free as a guest in someone else’s game. The host runs a Jackbox title and shares its screen; you join at jackbox.tv with the room code using an internet-connected device. To host your own game, you generally need access to a copy. Amazon currently lists one possible exception for Prime members: The Jackbox Party Pack 9 is included in Luna GameNight in supported regions.
Joining a friend’s game is free
The host starts a game, which displays a room code. As a guest, open jackbox.tv in a browser, enter that code, choose a player name, and follow the prompts. A phone, tablet, computer, or other internet-connected device with a browser can serve as your controller; you do not need to buy or open the game yourself. The host must keep the game screen visible, either to people in the same room or through remote screen sharing. (Jackbox Games: How to Play Jackbox Games; Jackbox Games Support, updated May 23, 2026)
Hosting your own game usually requires a copy
Joining and hosting are different. The person running the game needs access to a Jackbox title on a compatible device that can run it, and must show the game to the group. Jackbox describes its ordinary purchase model as a one-time purchase rather than a subscription; the copy is associated with the platform where it was bought. Guests do not need their own copies. | Steam Next Fest demo | Players during the promotion | Jackbox announced a free Party Pack 11 demo for Steam Next Fest in October 2025, ahead of the pack’s October 23, 2025 launch. That announcement does not establish that the demo remains available. |
Amazon’s September 29, 2026 guide lists Luna availability in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Portugal, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Availability of Luna does not by itself guarantee that GameNight or a particular title is available under the same terms in every location, so check Amazon’s current listing for your country. Don’t confuse GameNight with the discontinued Jackbox Luna subscription
Jackbox says Amazon discontinued its Jackbox Games subscriptions sold through Luna effective June 10, 2026. That discontinued subscription is distinct from Amazon’s current GameNight listing for Party Pack 9 as a Prime-included title. Do not rely on old instructions or subscription offers for the former service. (Jackbox Games Support, updated May 23, 2026; Amazon guide, updated September 29, 2026)

- If you are joining: get the room code from the host, then open jackbox.tv in a browser and enter it.
- If you are hosting: make sure your device can run the title and that you have access to it; arrange for everyone to see the game screen.
- If using Prime: confirm that Luna GameNight and Party Pack 9 are currently offered in your region and that your membership qualifies.
- If you found a demo offer: check whether it is still active. The cited Party Pack 11 offer was tied to Steam Next Fest in October 2025, not established as a permanent free version.
Player limits vary by game, so check the title’s player-count details when deciding whether it fits your group. (Jackbox Games Support, updated May 23, 2026)
