Can You Pay With Blizzard Balance and a Credit Card?

Blizzard’s accessible policy says Balance cannot be combined with another payment method, while a newer support listing raises questions. Check your purchase’s current checkout options and account region.

It depends on the purchase and checkout flow. Blizzard’s accessible Balance restrictions page says Battle.net Balance cannot be combined with another payment method, but Blizzard’s support search also lists a newer article specifically about combining Balance with another method. Because its details are not available, Blizzard’s public guidance does not establish a universal yes or no for paying the remainder with a credit card. Check the payment options shown for your region and purchase before relying on a split payment.

Can you pay with Blizzard balance and credit card?

Blizzard’s Battle.net Balance Restrictions article says Balance cannot be combined with another payment method. However, Blizzard’s support search lists a newer article, Combining Battle.net Balance With Another Payment Method, marked as updated two months before the research date. The listing does not say whether credit cards qualify, which purchases are eligible, or whether availability varies by region.

For that reason, do not assume that a credit card can cover the amount left after using Balance—or that it cannot. Check the current options and instructions displayed during checkout for the specific item, account region, and Shop currency. If split payment is not offered, use one accepted payment method for the purchase or contact Blizzard Support for guidance.

Check currency, region, and purchase type

  • Balance and Shop currency must match. Blizzard says dollar-denominated Balance cannot be used in the European Shop when the Shop charges in euros. See Blizzard’s Balance restrictions.
  • Credit-card billing details should match the account. Blizzard advises that account address information match the card’s billing details and recommends a card billed within the account’s region. Some products, payment methods, or currencies may have additional restrictions. See Blizzard’s payment troubleshooting guidance.
  • Subscriptions and game time are different. Blizzard says Balance cannot pay for a World of Warcraft subscription, but it can be used to buy game time. See the Balance restrictions page.
  • Some stores are excluded. Blizzard Balance cannot be used in the Blizzard Gear Store or in the PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Apple, Google Play, or Amazon app stores, according to Blizzard’s restrictions.

What to do if the card or Balance payment fails

If the credit card is declined

  1. Compare the Battle.net account’s street address, postal code, and country with the billing information registered to the card.
  2. Check that the card’s billing address is in the same region as the Battle.net account. Blizzard says a card billed outside the account region may be rejected.
  3. Check whether the product, payment method, or currency has an additional restriction. Blizzard’s payment troubleshooting guidance notes that restrictions can apply.

If Balance is not accepted

  1. Confirm that the Balance currency matches the currency used by the Shop for that purchase.
  2. Review the checkout screen for an option to use Balance alongside another method. The older restrictions page rules out combining methods, but Blizzard’s newer support listing leaves the current eligibility unclear.
  3. If checkout offers no split-payment option, try an accepted single payment method or ask Blizzard Support about that purchase and region.

Adding Balance is not the same as splitting a payment

Blizzard says Balance code cards may be available from physical retailers and can be claimed through Battle.net Account Management. A code card is one possible way to fund an account, but buying or redeeming one does not establish that Balance can be combined with a credit card at checkout. Blizzard also publishes Balance account caps of $350/€250/£200, or $110/€110/£100 without an Authenticator linked, and says a newly purchased Balance amount can take up to 24 hours to become available; check its current restrictions page for applicable details.
