Curios come from several kinds of content: chests, quests, shops, bosses, and enemy drops. A listed enemy drop is not necessarily guaranteed, so allow for repeated attempts where a guide identifies random farming. Gamer Guides and PowerPyx provide location inventories and acquisition notes; check the relevant entry for the Curio you are pursuing rather than assuming every item is a fixed chest pickup. Maitreya’s Orb: use the post-patch location
PowerPyx reports that after patch 1.0.8, Maitreya’s Orb is in a chest near Mindfulness Cliff. The guide says its earlier source was a drop from Non-Able near Brook of Bliss. Update and Challenge Curios
Not every Curio belongs to the original progression route. Game Science’s official Steam notes for version 1.0.13.16669 identify Stone Tiger Tally, Ever-Burning Palace Lantern, and Fragment of the Ocean-Settling Pillar as Gauntlet of Legends rewards. The same announcement says Challenge is available at a Keeper’s Shrine after completing the game at least once. These are update and Challenge content, not ordinary early-game pickups. The announcement states: “After completing the game at least once, the Destined One can find ‘Challenge’ at any Keeper’s Shrine.”
Choosing the right Curio for your next fight
- Want broad offense? Start with Tiger Tally if your pattern includes light-attack sequences; consider Beast Buddha for a critical-hit-focused build.
- Need stronger Focus generation? Use Amber Prayer Beads when Focus supports your main damage plan.
- Getting defeated before you can execute your plan? Swap toward Agate Jar or Gold Spikeplate; the defensive slot may be more valuable than extra damage while learning a fight.
- Facing a matching elemental threat? Use the relevant resistance Curio for that encounter rather than judging it by general-purpose rankings.
- Rely on elemental damage late in the game? Celestial Birthstone Fragment is a Chapter 6 option after Ling-Baw-Baw, not a solution for earlier bosses.
Curio slots have an opportunity cost: each choice displaces another passive bonus. Reassess when the encounter changes, and distinguish a Curio you equip for a particular route or boss from one that earns a place in a general combat setup.
