Each surviving myrmidon powers his elemental defenses and contributes to Elemental Retort, the reaction that can punish attacks and even some other actions aimed at him. Once the myrmidons are gone, Lorroakan is far safer to finish.
Why Lorroakan’s fight is dangerous
At the start of the encounter, Lorroakan draws power from nearby myrmidons. The BG3 Wiki’s combat reference lists immunity to cold, fire, lightning, and poison while the corresponding elemental support remains. The Earth Myrmidon can also cast Stoneskin on him, granting resistance to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
His Elemental Retort reaction is the other major threat. The BG3 Wiki reference describes each myrmidon as contributing its element to the retaliation: Air for lightning, Earth for poison, Fire for fire, and Water for cold. With all four alive, the described damage can reach 3d8 of each element, or 12d8 total, and their reaction resources can allow up to five casts per round at full strength. The spell reference describes a Dexterity save for half damage.
There is an important mismatch between the reaction’s in-game description and its reported behavior: despite the wording “When you take damage,” Elemental Retort can trigger from actions that target Lorroakan, including some that deal no damage. Avoid testing spells or area effects on him while his support is active.

Defeat the myrmidons first
- Keep Lorroakan untargeted. Direct your attacks at the myrmidons rather than using actions that target Lorroakan. Their support is the source of his elemental protections and retaliation.
- Remove the myrmidons one at a time. Each death removes that myrmidon’s contribution to Retort and its associated elemental immunity. Account for the Earth Myrmidon’s Stoneskin when choosing attacks.
- Use damage and control your party can rely on. The references do not establish one universally best class, spell, damage type, or party composition. Choose effective attacks for your characters and avoid assuming one build will trivialize the encounter.
- Focus on Lorroakan after the support is gone. With fewer myrmidons, Retort is less damaging; with none, the elemental support is removed. Weapon attacks may be useful against his elemental immunities, though Stoneskin, equipment, difficulty, and other effects still matter.
At the reference’s listed values, Lorroakan has 98 HP on Balanced and 127 HP on Tactician and Honour, with AC 12. The same page notes additional Elemental Adept feats on Tactician and Honour. These are game-reference values; check your own difficulty and game version rather than treating them as universal.
Can you stop Elemental Retort instead?
Reaction-blocking control can reduce the danger without following the myrmidon-first sequence, but it depends on successfully applying the effect. The combat reference identifies conditions such as Prone, Stunned, or Hold Person, and spells such as Shocking Grasp or Arms of Hadar, as ways to stop reactions. Confirm that the condition landed before relying on it. Silence is specifically reported not to stop Elemental Retort.

The BG3 Wiki also describes directly absorbing Retort and killing Lorroakan before the myrmidons. That can suit a sufficiently durable party, but exposes attackers to potentially severe retaliation, so it is not the safest general plan. The push-off tactic is likewise not a dependable default: the reference flags related behavior for verification, and results may vary by game version.

The roster depends on the story state. The confrontation takes place at Ramazith’s Tower in Act Three and concerns Lorroakan’s pursuit of the Nightsong, Dame Aylin. If the party sides with Aylin, Lorroakan is supported by one myrmidon of each elemental type, alongside other combatants; the exact roster can vary with prior choices. Rolan’s allegiance is also conditional, not fixed. According to the BG3 Wiki’s Rolan reference, if he survived his Shadow-Cursed Lands expedition but Cal and Lia were not saved during “Rescue the Tieflings,” he fights for Lorroakan. If Cal and Lia were saved, he fights with the party.
