Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For an unarmed Monk in Baldur’s Gate 3, the clearest gear picks in the available evidence are Gloves of Soul Catching, Gloves of Crushing, and Boots of Uninhibited Kushigo. They add force damage, improve unarmed accuracy and bludgeoning damage, or scale unarmed damage with Wisdom, respectively. Which is best depends on your build and what you value; the evidence does not establish a verified, ranked list of 20 items.
Choose Monk gear for the attacks your build actually uses
Start by checking whether your Monk relies on unarmed strikes or uses weapons. Equipment that explicitly improves unarmed attacks is most relevant to an unarmed-focused build; it may be less valuable if your attack plan centers on other weapons or mechanics. There is no single best-in-slot setup established for every subclass, party, difficulty, and point in the game.
Dexterity is relevant to attack and damage rolls for unarmed strikes and Monk weapons, while Wisdom matters to some equipment effects. The useful comparison is therefore not simply “which item has the biggest bonus?” but “does its effect fit this character’s attacks and ability scores?”
Three sourced items with direct unarmed benefits
| Item | Documented effect | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Gloves of Soul Catching | Unarmed attacks deal an additional 1d10 force damage. The gloves also offer a choice involving healing or a temporary +5 bonus to an attack roll or saving throw. | Compare the added damage and utility with your other equipment choices. The +5 bonus is an alternative to healing, not an effect received alongside it. |
| Gloves of Crushing | +1 to unarmed attack rolls and +2 bludgeoning damage with unarmed attacks. | A straightforward example of a glove effect that supports both accuracy and damage. |
| Boots of Uninhibited Kushigo | Unarmed strikes deal additional damage equal to the wearer’s Wisdom modifier. | The benefit depends on the wearer’s Wisdom modifier and applies to unarmed strikes. |
These effects come from the cited item references: Gloves of Soul Catching, Gloves of Crushing, and Boots of Uninhibited Kushigo.

Keep class damage separate from equipment bonuses
Monk unarmed damage also changes with class progression. The cited feature list describes base unarmed damage increasing from 1 to 1d4 at level 1, to 1d6 at level 3, and to 1d8 at level 9. Those are class values; item damage is an additional effect, not a replacement for the class progression. See the Monk feature list for the cited progression.
Build context can change the comparison
A PC Gamer Patch 8 build article discusses an Open Hand Monk 9 / Thief Rogue 3 setup, including Open Hand Manifestation damage based on Wisdom and the Wisdom-scaling effect of Boots of Uninhibited Kushigo. That is a specific build context, not a universal gear prescription: PC Gamer’s Open Hand Monk build.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why this is not a verified top-20 list
The available item and class references support these three concrete examples and useful comparison criteria, but they do not verify twenty recommendations, a universal ranking, or exact acquisition details for every candidate. A reliable twenty-item list would need to check each item’s effect, equipment slot, acquisition method and timing, patch-sensitive behavior, and fit with the build being recommended. Filling the remaining places without that verification would imply a level of certainty the evidence does not provide.
