Cronos: The New Dawn is Bloober Team’s third-person survival horror game, released September 5, 2025. It sends players between a devastated future and industrial 1980s Poland, where they gather the Essences of people who died in the apocalypse while managing scarce supplies and dangerous enemies.
What is Cronos: The New Dawn?
It is a survival horror game about a Traveler working for the enigmatic Collective. The mission is to find time rifts in the future, travel back to 1980s Poland, and extract the Essences of people who perished in the apocalypse. The setting draws inspiration from Nowa Huta, a historical district of Kraków, and moves between that industrial past and a ravaged future. Bandai Namco’s launch announcement describes the game’s September 5, 2025 release; its Steam description and PlayStation Store listing outline the premise and mechanics.

How does the survival horror gameplay work?
Combat is shaped by limited ammunition and supplies. Players scavenge while exploring, and must contend with the Merging mechanic: fallen creatures can be absorbed by other enemies, making those enemies more dangerous. The PlayStation listing says the Traveler uses a device called the Harvester to extract Essences and carry them into the future. These are publisher-described features, not a guarantee of how any particular encounter will play out.
What platforms is Cronos: The New Dawn on?
The game launched on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. A Mac version launched April 28, 2026, and Bloober Team says it runs natively on Apple silicon. Storefront availability can vary by country and platform; check the relevant store for the current listing.

Does Cronos: The New Dawn have an easy mode?
Yes. Bloober Team announced Temporal Diver, an easier difficulty, in February 2026. The developer says this mode increases player health and reduces enemy difficulty. Its April 2026 Mac announcement also names Anvil of the Collective as the standard difficulty and Forged in Fire as an unlockable mode available after completing a playthrough on Anvil. The February announcement said Temporal Diver was live on select platforms, with other platforms to follow, so it should not be assumed that the rollout happened everywhere at once.
Is Cronos: The New Dawn available physically?
Bloober Team announced physical Standard Editions for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC in EMEA and Australia. That does not establish physical availability in every country or for every platform. Check local retailers for current stock and confirm the platform and edition before buying.

What editions and PC requirements should buyers check?
PS5 editions and features
The US PlayStation Store lists a base game and a Deluxe Edition, which includes bonus content and a digital artbook. The same listing describes offline play for one player, DualSense vibration and trigger effects, and PS5 Pro enhancement. It also lists content descriptors for blood and gore, intense violence, and strong language. These details are specific to that store listing; local storefronts may differ.
PC system requirements
Steam lists Windows minimum requirements of 16 GB RAM, 30 GB storage, and one of these graphics cards: NVIDIA GTX 1080, AMD RX 5700 XT, or Intel Arc A770. Requirements and supported configurations can change, so consult the live Steam system requirements before purchasing or installing. The listing also includes macOS and Apple-silicon requirements; verify those directly on the store page rather than relying on values repeated elsewhere.

As a dated snapshot, Steam showed 4,285 English-language user reviews with 87% positive and 238 recent reviews with 84% positive when accessed October 8, 2026. These are changing storefront figures, not fixed critic scores.
