The Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Beginner Box contains ten themed, 20-card Jumpstart half-decks—not ten complete decks—plus a guided Aang-versus-Zuko tutorial and game aids. After the tutorial, mix any two themes to play. Below are the complete decklists and everything else in the box.
What comes in the Avatar MTG Beginner Box?
Wizards of the Coast’s October 28, 2025 contents announcement lists ten themed Jumpstart half-decks, each containing 20 cards. Two are the ordered Aang and Zuko tutorial decks. The box also includes:
- Five non-foil tokens
- Two gameboard playmats
- Two How to Play guides
- Two reference cards
- Two spindown dice
- One reference guide booklet
The contents are distinct from the larger Avatar set: this is a curated beginner product with ten specific half-decks and learning materials, not a general set booster assortment.
Complete Beginner Box decklists
These are the ten themes and card names listed in Wizards’ contents announcement. Basic lands are included in each 20-card half-deck; quantities appear after the named cards.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How the tutorial and mix-and-match decks work
Keep the first two tutorial decks in order
Do not shuffle the Aang Tutorial or Zuko Tutorial half-deck before the initial guided game. The numbered cards are arranged for the lesson. To restore either deck for another tutorial, use the numbers at the bottom-left: put card 20 at the bottom, then stack downward in sequence until card 1 is on top, as Wizards explains in its deck-handling instructions.
Best Value
- Includes: 20 Magic cards, featuring all necessary lands-simply combine two Jumpstart Boosters and start playing
- Explore new mechanics: Earthbending, Airbending, Waterbending, and Firebending to craft your story and find your Magic playstyle
- Harness the elements. Conquer the game
Combine themes after the lesson
Once players are ready to move beyond the guided game, they can choose any two 20-card themed half-decks and combine them for a 40-card Jumpstart game. The ten themes cover all five Magic colors across the box and mix character-led options such as Allies with mechanic- or playstyle-focused themes such as Waterbending, Firebending, Counters, and Big Creatures.
Is the Beginner Box right for a new player?
It is designed for learning with another person: two tutorial decks, paired guides and reference cards, playmats, and dice support a first game without requiring players to build decks first. The other eight half-decks provide combinations to try after the introductory match. It is a less direct fit for someone looking specifically for boosters, a full constructed deck, or a broad sampling of every card in the Avatar set; the contents list describes a fixed collection of ten half-decks.
New players can also look for Magic Academy events at participating Wizards Play Network stores. Wizards’ October 29, 2025 event information described Learn to Play sessions covering turn order, combat, and casting spells, with participating stores receiving a Beginner Box for events. Store participation and schedules vary, so contact a local store for current availability.
Release date and historical launch price
Wizards published the contents and decklists on October 28, 2025, and the set released worldwide on November 21, 2025. The preview schedule announced on October 24, 2025 had set the debut stream for October 28 and the complete card image gallery for November 7; those dates have passed. Wizards’ product page now labels the set available. The October 2025 collecting article listed a $34.99 MSRP for the Beginner Box at launch. That dated figure is not a current price or indication of present stock.

Rules notes for cards in the box
Some cards have rules interactions that are not apparent from a spoiler list alone. Wizards’ Avatar release notes include specific clarifications for cards such as Explore and Feed the Swarm. Consult those notes and current Magic rules when a gameplay interaction is unclear; Wizards notes that rules information can change with future updates.
