When did Borderlands 4 launch, and on which platforms?
2K and Gearbox announced worldwide availability on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The publisher gave October 3, 2025, as the Nintendo Switch 2 release date. 2K’s launch announcement confirms those dates and platforms.
What protection does the PC version list?
Steam’s Borderlands 4 store listing identifies Denuvo as third-party DRM for the PC edition. That is evidence of the protection Steam discloses, not evidence that the game did or did not resist cracking at launch. It also does not establish the protection used on console editions.
Is Symbiote the same thing as Denuvo?
No. Gearbox described Symbiote as its proprietary anti-tamper technology, separate from DRM. In a June 16, 2025 Steam Community post, the developer said it was designed to prevent exploits including store-platform spoofing, operated in user mode rather than at kernel level, and “is not a DRM tool.” Gearbox’s statement reproduced in the Steam discussion concerns Symbiote; Steam lists Denuvo separately.

So, was Borderlands 4 cracked on launch day?
The available evidence does not provide a dependable answer. Crack-status trackers surfaced conflicting claims, and neither establishes contemporaneous launch-day status or reliably dates the first conventional crack. A tracker’s present-day label cannot, by itself, prove what happened on September 12, 2025. The claim that the game would not be cracked at launch should therefore be treated as unverified, not as a confirmed outcome.

The official Borderlands 4 editions FAQ, published June 2, 2025 and updated June 30, 2026, says the Standard Edition is physical for consoles and digital for all platforms; its listed console platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It also specifies that the ECHO-4 collectible bundle does not include the game.
