Check whether a game patch matches your crash
The developer has published fixes for specific crash bugs, but those notes do not say that the fixes are Steam Deck-specific or that they eliminate all recurring crashes. Compare your trigger with the reported fixes rather than assuming any patch is a universal solution.

Does lowering graphics or avoiding plushies help?
One player in a community discussion said lowering graphics settings and avoiding interaction with plushies helped them progress with fewer crashes; the same player said later updates seemed to help. Include the information you recorded—game build, SteamOS version, solo or multiplayer context, and the action just before the crash—and explain whether the game closed or the whole Deck became unresponsive.
