GameSpot’s report described an airdrop, swimming and destructible walls. EA later launched the free-to-play mode as Battlefield REDSEC, a 100-player battle royale on Fort Lyndon.
What the reported pre-release footage showed
GameSpot described the video as apparent leaked footage of an early build, so its scenes should not be treated as a confirmed feature list for the released mode. The report said the clip began with a loading screen and loadout menu before the player airdropped onto a large map.

During the reported match, the player swam and used a sledgehammer to break through bathroom walls. GameSpot also noted grenades, ziplines and a ladder gadget, as well as visible pop-in. Those observations describe what appeared in that clip; they do not establish that every item or behavior remained in REDSEC at launch or is available now. GameSpot’s footage report
What EA later confirmed with Battlefield REDSEC
EA subsequently launched Battlefield REDSEC as a free-to-play experience alongside Battlefield 6 Season 1. That resolved the early uncertainty about whether the battle royale would be a standalone experience. EA described its launch Battle Royale as a 100-player fight on Fort Lyndon, with players looting, facing enemy squads and using Tactical Destruction. The publisher said destruction could help players create routes or turn the environment against opponents.

EA General Manager Byron Beede described REDSEC as “everything you love about Battlefield – destruction, intense combat, vehicular carnage – in a new, massive playspace that’s free for everyone to experience.” The announcement listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. How the live mode has changed since launch
USS Grant and the Crashed Carrier
EA’s August 2026 Top Gun update added the USS Grant location to Fort Lyndon Battle Royale. EA described the Crashed Carrier as offering higher-value loot than standard points of interest and said it would be a High Value Zone for the first few weeks after launch. Other Battle Royale features
EA community updates have also discussed Battle Royale Quads support for Custom Lobbies and Spectator Mode, proximity chat, and Ranked Battle Royale. These references show that the offering evolved beyond the early clip, but they do not establish precise present-day rollout or availability for every feature. The footage is useful as an early snapshot of the ideas being explored: dropping into a large map, scavenging and fighting around squads, and using destruction or traversal tools. It is not official final-gameplay footage, and it should not be used as a current checklist of REDSEC’s map, gadgets or playlists. For the released mode’s confirmed launch format, rely on EA’s announcement; for later additions, use dated updates and verify live availability.
