Arizona Sunshine Remake is Vertigo Games’ VR rebuild of its 2016 zombie shooter, released October 17, 2024. It updates the presentation and combat, bundles the original game’s two DLCs and three named updates, and supports solo play, co-op campaign and four-player Horde mode. It is available for several VR platforms, but the right version depends on the hardware you already own and what your regional storefront currently lists.
What changed in Arizona Sunshine Remake?
Vertigo Games describes the remake as a complete rebuild, with high-resolution textures, more realistic environmental detail, and updated VR combat and weapons. These are publisher-described features, not results from an independent graphics benchmark. The game also features physically wielded weapons, including shotguns and machetes, and a new mutilation and gore system. Vertigo Games’ official product page provides the feature list.
The remake keeps the original zombie-apocalypse premise while rebuilding how it looks and plays in VR. It is a distinct 2024 remake, not a new entry or a general upgrade to every game in the Arizona Sunshine franchise.
What content is included?
Vertigo Games says the remake includes the original game’s Dead Man and The Damned DLC, along with the Old Mine, Trailer Park and Undead Valley updates. That makes the remake the most straightforward way to get the original campaign and those named additions together. Can you play alone or with friends?
Yes. The campaign can be played solo or as a co-op campaign, and the separate Horde mode supports up to four players, according to Vertigo Games. The publisher describes the campaign as short VR chunks that can be played in brief sessions or joined into the full narrative. Co-op campaign and Horde are different ways to play together: one follows the story, while the other focuses on multiplayer survival.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can owners of the original game upgrade?
Vertigo Games says the original game must be both purchased and installed on the same platform for the stated upgrade route. This is a platform-specific condition: do not assume an original copy on one system qualifies for an upgrade on another. The available offer and price can change, so check the relevant platform storefront; Steam also states a platform-specific original-game upgrade condition. Steam’s Arizona Sunshine Remake listing describes its edition and upgrade details.
