The July 2 Apex Legends update was the 2019 launch of Season 2: Battle Charge—not a current 2026 patch. It added Wattson, Ranked Leagues and major Kings Canyon changes, alongside weapon and ammo balancing, performance work and bug fixes. Here is what EA announced in the historical update.
What was the Apex Legends July 2 update?
EA’s July 2, 2019 update launched Season 2: Battle Charge. It brought a new Legend, map changes associated with the Leviathans, Ranked Leagues, new weapon content, balance adjustments and quality-of-life changes. EA’s Season 2: Battle Charge patch notes are the original reference for the update.

Wattson and Kings Canyon
Wattson joined the roster with Spark of Genius, Perimeter Security and Interception Pylon. EA described the pylon as destroying incoming ordnance and repairing damaged shields. The season also changed Kings Canyon in connection with the Leviathans.
Ranked Leagues
Ranked Leagues were another major Season 2 addition, giving players a ranked mode as part of the launch update.

Weapons, ammunition and balance changes
The patch introduced the L-STAR EMG as an airdrop-only weapon, plus new hop-ups and Energy Mags. EA’s 2019 patch values included the following changes:

| Shotgun ammo | Maximum stack decreased from 64 to 16. EA, 2019 |
| Energy ammo | Maximum stack increased from 60 to 80. EA, 2019 |
Disruptor Rounds were added for the Alternator and RE-45; Hammerpoint Rounds for the P2020 and Mozambique; and Energy Mags for the Havoc, Triple Take and Devotion. EA also moved the Skullpiercer Hop-Up to gold tier. These are historical patch adjustments, not a description of current weapon balance.

Legend and Ring adjustments
In the same patch, EA raised Fortified damage reduction from 10% to 15% and set Low Profile Legends to take 5% more incoming damage. Ring damage per tick increased by round as follows:

Bug fixes and performance improvements
EA said the update included a hit-registration fix for a situation in which a player fired while being damaged by an enemy shotgun. It also fixed an exploit that let players jump while downed and included general stability improvements related to script errors.
Other fixes and changes covered crashes, load screens, the consumables wheel, Battle Pass navigation, Supply Ship behavior, spectating-related displacement under the map, melee attacks while inspecting an item, and issues involving Bloodhound, Wraith and Octane. Some fixes were platform-specific; for example, EA’s notes identify an Xbox One achievement fix. The patch also described performance optimization, particularly while firing multi-projectile weapons, and interface and quality-of-life adjustments. Is July 2 a current Apex Legends update date?
No: the July 2 patch covered here is from 2019. EA’s Apex Legends news and update index lists later updates, including the September 14, 2026 Marked Midseason Patch Notes, August 3 Marked Patch Notes and June 22 Overclocked Midseason Patch Notes.
EA’s July 28, 2026 Marked announcement said that season would release August 4, 2026; it described a Bloodhound rework, World’s Edge changes, Corrupted Attachments, energy weapon changes, and Loba and Rampart buffs. The July 2 date appearing in EA’s 2026 listing refers to Ranked Ladder dates, not a patch release. The available official listing does not identify a July 2, 2026 patch. EA’s Marked announcement provides the season details.
