What is Chants of Sennaar?
Chants of Sennaar is a puzzle adventure inspired by the myth of Babel. You play as a Traveler exploring a tower inhabited by five peoples who have become isolated from one another. To make progress, you observe your surroundings, listen to conversations, record unfamiliar symbols in a notebook, and work out what the different languages mean. Language deciphering is woven into environmental puzzles and exploration.
The Steam store description presents the game as a journey through the tower and its languages.
When and where was it released?
Focus Entertainment announced the original release for September 5, 2023, on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Mobile versions for the Apple App Store and Google Play followed on August 26, 2025, released by Playdigious, according to a Fragbite Group press release.

What other awards has it won?
A Fragbite Group press release dated September 5, 2025, reports that Chants of Sennaar won Best Video Game, Best Independent Video Game, and Best Game Design at the 2024 Pégases Awards, as well as Best Indie Game at the New York Game Awards. These are separate honors from its 2024 BIG Festival Best Game win.
The same 2025 release reported a Steam score of 98/100 and a combined PC and console Metacritic score of 86/100. Those are figures reported by the company in September 2025, not live or independently verified current ratings.
