Maiden Voyage launched on December 9, 2025, as a free expansion for Bellwright, adding the Halmare Isles expedition map and a broad set of story, settlement, and combat features. It is no longer the game’s latest update: Bellwright’s official news index lists later updates, including an October 6, 2026 hotfix.
When did Maiden Voyage launch, and is it still the latest update?
Snail Games USA announced Maiden Voyage as a free expansion released December 9, 2025. The developer’s launch announcement pointed players to Steam for the full change log. A preview-branch test had been mentioned before launch, but that was pre-release access, not the current availability status.

What does the Halmare Isles expansion add?
Halmare Isles is a new expedition map and story region. Snail Games USA reported at launch that it covers more than 10 square kilometers, or roughly 25% of the original game’s size. Those are publisher-reported specifications, not independent measurements.

The region brings new quests, progression lines, factions, caves, points of interest, creatures, resources, animals, buildings, and equipment. The developer describes several factions competing for the Bellwright’s services, with player choices having consequences; that is the developer’s characterization of the story system.
How does Maiden Voyage change exploration and progression?
The Halmare Isles is designed as a separate expedition with its own environment, story quests, caves, and places to discover. Its quests include multiple progression lines, and a Loyalty & Faction system gives the new region a political dimension alongside exploration. The publisher also highlights expanded armor and equipment, while the developer lists new creatures and resources among the region’s additions.

The update extends settlement management beyond building and staffing a village. Players can connect outposts with trade routes and caravans, take on caravaneer jobs, and buy or sell goods with friendly villages. The developer also says village prosperity is part of the trade system.
Construction additions include buildable walls, defensive outposts, and additional structures. Building-placement markers can flag foliage obstructing a planned site so workers can clear it. The developer also describes changes to attacker and defender AI behavior around fortifications.
What changes affect combat and character customization?
Maiden Voyage adds weapon types, cloaks, armor, and other equipment, alongside the expanded character creator. Full controller support is another broad game feature highlighted for the update. The developer and publisher also list new animals and buildings among the additions, rather than limiting the expansion to the new map.
What did the publisher say about the expansion?
In Snail Games USA’s December 9, 2025 launch announcement, Creative Director and Project Lead Florian Hoffreither said: “Maiden Voyage massively expands Bellwright in both scale and features. It’s now bigger and better than ever and with over one million wishlists, there’s never been a better time to hop in!” The wishlist figure is the publisher’s claim in that dated statement.
