If Battlefield 2042 has “keyboard & mouse input glitched” and a “greyed out loadout issue,” treat them as two symptoms until you can show they share a cause. For PC mouse movement trouble, first check that Mouse Raw Input is On. For an empty or unavailable loadout, EA/DICE historically reported that Update 4.0 resolved most cases, but that does not confirm a fix for the same problem in the current game build.
First identify what is actually failing
Before changing settings, note the platform and separate the symptoms. “Keyboard & mouse input glitched” could mean the mouse will not move in gameplay, keys do not respond, a binding cannot be changed, or controls fail only in a vehicle. A “greyed out loadout issue” may mean a loadout option is unavailable, the Loadout screen is empty, or you cannot deploy.
- Does the mouse work in menus but not during gameplay?
- Do keyboard keys still work, and does the problem affect On Foot controls, vehicles, or both?
- What exactly is greyed out, and can you deploy?
- Which platform and game mode are you using?
- Are other USB input devices connected, or are peripheral software or overlays running?
EA staff asked players reporting input failures for details about their hardware, software, location in-game, and whether the issue could be reproduced. Those details can help distinguish an input problem from a loadout or deployment problem. EA Forums: Losing all keyboard and mouse input
If the mouse does not move in gameplay on PC
Check Mouse Raw Input
Open Battlefield 2042’s mouse-and-keyboard settings and check Mouse Raw Input. EA’s PC settings resource lists this option and gives its default as On. In a historical issue notice, EA Community Manager EA_Leeuw warned that turning it Off could make the mouse unavailable in-game and advised players to keep it On until an update. That notice describes an issue at the time; it does not establish that the same bug remains in the current build.

Check for peripheral conflicts
If the setting is already On, or the problem is intermittent, disconnect extra USB peripherals temporarily and see whether the symptom changes. EA’s historical troubleshooting thread included this as a possible workaround, not a guaranteed fix. If you try it, reconnect devices one at a time so you can identify whether a particular device or its software coincides with the failure. EA Forums: Workaround for mouse bug!

If the problem is limited to keybindings
Battlefield 2042 allows controls to be remapped. The official resources group them into categories such as Common, On Foot, and vehicle roles, which can help you find the affected control without changing unrelated settings. - In Mouse & Keyboard settings, inspect the affected category and binding.
- If the issue is with On Foot controls, try resetting On Foot bindings, then check Movement bindings if needed.
- If the issue persists, consider resetting all keybindings. This is broader than changing one binding and may undo custom controls.
These reset steps appeared in EA’s historical workaround thread; they are not verified fixes for every current input problem. Avoid resetting more than necessary so you can tell which change, if any, mattered.

Use settings-file resets only as a last resort
EA’s historical workaround thread suggested removing PROFSAVE files in Documents > Battlefield 2042 > Settings to restore defaults. The post explicitly warns that this resets in-game settings. If considering this step, preserve a copy of the files first so you can recover your existing configuration.
The same thread described editing lines beginning GstKeyBinding.infantry.ConceptYaw for a particular mouse issue. Treat that as a historical community workaround, not a current official diagnosis; do not edit settings files unless you understand how to restore them. EA Forums: Workaround for mouse bug!

If the Loadout screen is empty or unavailable
EA/DICE said Update 4.0 included a fix for the most common cause of the empty Loadout screen bug and that the team had resolved the majority of occurrences. The same historical post acknowledged a rare remaining occurrence, which was targeted for a future update. These were qualitative statements, not a numeric rate or a guarantee about the current game version. EA Forums: Loadout unavailable
If you still encounter an empty or greyed-out loadout, record your platform, game mode, what the screen shows, whether deployment is possible, and the steps that reproduce it. The available EA material does not establish a current-build fix for that specific case.

Do the input glitch and loadout issue have one cause?
The available reports do not link them. EA discussed mouse and keyboard input failures separately from the empty Loadout screen bug, so troubleshoot each symptom on its own rather than assuming a binding reset will repair the loadout or that a loadout problem explains a mouse failure.
