The product most closely matching “Biped 2” in the available manufacturer materials is NOA, a shoulder-worn mobility vest made by biped robotics. The NOA user manual does not identify “Biped 2” as an official model name. NOA is intended for blind and low-vision users, with manufacturer-described camera- and AI-based features that provide audio information; it is presented as an aid to existing mobility skills, not a replacement for a cane, guide dog, or training.

Is Biped 2 an official product name?

Not in the manufacturer materials reviewed here. The user manual names the product NOA and identifies biped robotics as its developer. “Biped 2” may be a mistaken or informal reference, so this review focuses on NOA rather than treating Biped 2 as a confirmed model. The NOA user manual is the clearest source for its identity and intended use.

What is NOA, and how is it meant to work?

NOA is a smart vest worn on the shoulders. The manual describes wide-angle cameras, AI, and control through a device-side keyboard or smartphone application. The manufacturer says the device can provide obstacle warnings through audio and describes GPS-related navigation and scene-description functions. These are manufacturer-described capabilities, not independently verified performance findings. Feature availability and behavior can change, so check the current device and app documentation before relying on a particular function. The manufacturer’s product page describes the feature set and Bluetooth audio compatibility.

Audio and Bluetooth headphones

The manufacturer says NOA works with many Bluetooth headphones, but the materials do not name a preferred or tested model. If headphone compatibility matters to your setup, confirm it with biped before purchasing or relying on a specific pair.

Can NOA replace a white cane, guide dog, or mobility training?

No. The manual says information from the device is indicative and should complement existing mobility solutions and proper training. It should not be treated as a substitute for a cane, guide dog, orientation-and-mobility instruction, or the user’s own judgment—particularly in traffic or unfamiliar surroundings. The manual also warns against unsuitable or unapproved accessories.

What evidence is available about the user experience?

A manufacturer-published orientation-and-mobility guide summarizes feedback from a small group of participants. It reports average participant ratings of 4 out of 5 for perceived safety, 3.5 out of 5 for stress, 4.25 out of 5 for mental effort, and 3.75 out of 5 for orientation-and-mobility competence. The page does not state the year. These are self-reported results described by biped.ai, not population statistics or an independent clinical evaluation. The guide also describes varied experiences, including users remaining cautious at intersections and differences in indoor navigation experiences. Read the manufacturer’s orientation-and-mobility guide.

The manual says the manufacturer enrolled over 250 beta testers across 10 countries; this is a development-history figure reported by biped robotics SA in its 2024.7 manual, not proof of independent safety or effectiveness testing. The materials reviewed do not provide an independent controlled evaluation.

What should you check before trying NOA?

  • Current availability and terms: Verify directly with the manufacturer. Feature, availability, pricing, shipping, and trial information can change, and the product page may not reflect current terms.
  • Your routes and mobility needs: Consider whether the described functions address your particular travel situations, and discuss the device with an orientation-and-mobility professional where appropriate.
  • Setup and audio: Confirm how the current device and app are controlled, what phone or connectivity is required, and whether your Bluetooth headphones are compatible.
  • Training and support: Ask what instruction is offered and what support is available in your region before relying on the device in daily travel.
  • Accessories: Follow the manual and verify that any accessory is approved and suitable for NOA.

Verdict

NOA is a manufacturer-described camera- and AI-based mobility aid with audio feedback, but “Biped 2” is not confirmed as its model name in the cited manual. The manufacturer’s feature descriptions and small-group participant feedback may help readers decide what to investigate, but they do not establish independent obstacle-detection accuracy or prove that the device is safe as a standalone mobility solution. Treat NOA as a possible complement to established mobility aids and training, and verify current functions, compatibility, and local support before trying it.
