Because the game is in Early Access, confirm spell and feature details in the current in-game tooltips before committing.
What is the best Sorcerer build in Solasta II?
Choose a build around party role rather than a universal tier ranking. Tactical Adventures describes the Sorcerer as a focused caster: Wizards know more spells and are more versatile, while Sorcerers use their selected spells more reliably and with stronger effects. That makes spell selection and timing central to the class.
The class’s signature tools reinforce that approach. Innate Sorcery lasts one minute, increasing spell save DC and granting advantage on spell attack rolls during that period. Metamagic lets Sorcerers alter spells for stronger or more reliable effects. Use those tools to support the role your party needs, rather than treating one spell list as best for every encounter. Focused offense
Build toward offensive casting if your party needs a dedicated spell damage contributor. Prioritize spells whose attacks or saving throws make good use of Innate Sorcery’s accuracy or save-DC benefits, and use Metamagic to improve the spells you expect to rely on. The official material establishes these class mechanics, but does not identify a tested optimal spell list or damage-maximizing character sheet.

Control and support
Choose this role if the party benefits more from shaping encounters than from adding another damage source. Favor spells whose effects depend on an enemy failing a saving throw, then time Innate Sorcery for the window when a higher save DC matters. The developer’s description supports this general approach; it does not name a best control spell or establish comparative encounter results.
Durability and utility
Mana Painter is the documented option to consider when you want a Sorcerer with a subclass-specific defensive angle. Its features arrive at different levels, so a low-level build does not yet have the subclass’s Charisma-based saving-throw benefit.

Which Sorcerer subclass should you choose?
Mana Painter
In Tactical Adventures’ Early Access subclass update, Mana Painter gains Mana Shield at level 3. It grants temporary hit points when the Sorcerer uses a spell slot. Mana Absorption is now a level 6 feature and applies Charisma to saving throws against spells. This progression gives Mana Painter a buffer when spending spell slots before its later spell-save defense comes online. The developer’s subclass update describes the change.
That distinction matters when planning a character at different stages: do not count Mana Absorption as a level 3 benefit. The feature timing was changed for the Early Access subclass lineup and multiclassing.

Star Child
The available official material does not provide enough of a current Star Child feature breakdown to make a reliable, detailed comparison with Mana Painter. Check the live game’s subclass description and feature tooltips before choosing it for a specific build; older Solasta: Crown of the Magister subclass mechanics are not evidence of how Solasta II works.
What spells and Metamagic should your Sorcerer take?
Pick spells and Metamagic to serve the role you chose, and verify that each option is available at your current character level in the live Early Access build. The official sources establish that Sorcerers have a narrower spell arsenal than Wizards and can use Metamagic to modify spells, but they do not publish a current, complete build with an exact spell progression or a proven set of Metamagic picks.

- For offense: look for spells that benefit from the accuracy or save-DC boost of Innate Sorcery, and select Metamagic that improves the effects you expect to use often.
- For control: focus on spells that impose effects through saving throws, so Innate Sorcery’s higher save DC supports the party’s control plan.
- For Mana Painter: account for Mana Shield at level 3 and Mana Absorption at level 6 when evaluating how much protection the subclass provides at a given level.
Exact spell availability, spell interactions, and level-up behavior can change during Early Access. Treat the in-game descriptions for your installed version as the final check, rather than importing a spell list from the first Solasta or assuming every option works identically across updates.

If a spell or Metamagic option appears unavailable while leveling, first check that the character has the required level and that the option is eligible for the current class combination. Then compare the behavior with the patch notes and current in-game tooltips. The update is version-specific, and future Early Access changes may alter the relevant behavior.
What the available evidence does—and does not—establish
Solasta II is an Early Access PC game available through Steam, and the official site says multiplayer supports groups of up to four. Its Early Access plan includes Sorcerer and multiclassing, with class features and spells subject to additions over time. Those facts make build advice version-sensitive, not a fixed endgame prescription. The official Solasta II site lists platform and multiplayer information; the Early Access primer discusses the evolving class lineup.
The official materials describe class design, selected subclass changes, and patch fixes. They do not provide tested comparisons of ability scores, ancestry, background, full spell lists, damage, or survival. As a result, focused offense, control/support, and Mana Painter durability are practical role-based approaches—not experimentally proven rankings.
