For repeat harvests, plant Blueberries; for a high-value single crop, consider Starfruit if you can afford its 400g seed; and for a cheaper single harvest, choose Melons. Hops suit frequent collection but require trellis-aware planting. “Summer Seeds” also names a specific crafted wild-seed item that grows into a random Grape, Spice Berry, or Sweet Pea—not a catch-all term for summer crops.

Which summer crop should you plant?

The best choice depends on how many days remain in Summer, what seeds you can access, and whether you want repeat harvests, a single high-value crop, or forage items. The table’s gold-per-day figures are conditional comparisons, not guaranteed results for every farm.

Priority Crop Why it fits What to consider
Repeat harvests with ordinary seed access Blueberries Each normal harvest yields three berries, and the plant produces again every four days after maturing. Seeds cost 80g at Pierre’s and the first harvest comes 13 days after planting, so the remaining season matters.
High-value individual crop Starfruit A normal-quality Starfruit sells for 750g; the comparison table estimates 26.92g per day under its assumptions. Seeds cost 400g at the Oasis. The upfront cost and time left in Summer matter.
Single harvest with lower seed cost Melons Seeds cost 80g at Pierre’s, and Melons can become Giant Crops. They take 12 days to mature. The comparison table estimates 14.17g per day under its assumptions.
Frequent repeat collection Hops Hops mature in 11 days and continue producing afterward. They grow on trellises, which restrict movement through planted tiles; plan access before planting.
Random forage crops or a crafted-seed objective Summer Seeds They grow in seven days into a random Grape, Spice Berry, or Sweet Pea. They are a specific wild-seed item, not a general name for the best crops to plant in Summer.

The crop comparison’s gold-per-day figures assume no fertilizer and no Tiller profession, along with the table’s harvest assumptions. They are useful for comparing those crops under those conditions, but actual returns depend on planting date, harvest count, and other farm choices. See the Stardew Valley Wiki Summer crop comparison for its assumptions and figures.

Blueberries: a practical repeat-harvest choice

Blueberry Seeds cost 80g at Pierre’s General Store. A plant takes 13 days to mature, then yields three blueberries per normal harvest every four days. That repeat schedule makes Blueberries a useful choice when you want several collections from a planting and have enough Summer left for the first harvest and later ones. The comparison table estimates 20.8g per day under its stated assumptions.

Starfruit: costly seeds, high-value fruit

Starfruit Seeds cost 400g at the Oasis, and the crop takes 13 days to mature. A normal-quality Starfruit sells for 750g. The crop table’s estimate of 26.92g per day is conditional on its assumptions; it is not a universal profit rate. Consider the seed outlay and whether the crop will mature before Summer ends.

Melons: a lower-cost single harvest with Giant Crop potential

Melon Seeds cost 80g at Pierre’s and take 12 days to mature. Normal-quality Melons sell for 250g, and Melons can become Giant Crops. The comparison table estimates 14.17g per day under its assumptions. Choose them when you want a lower seed cost than Starfruit and have time for the crop to mature.

Hops: repeat production with a layout trade-off

Hops mature in 11 days and continue producing after maturity, making them a repeat-collection option. Their trellises restrict movement through planted tiles, so leave routes that let you reach the plants rather than filling a space you need to walk through.

Summer Seeds: what the crafted item grows

Summer Seeds are crafted wild seeds. Each packet takes seven days to grow into one random Grape, Spice Berry, or Sweet Pea. They are not sold at Pierre’s or JojaMart, so they are distinct from ordinary crop seeds available for purchase.

Listed ways to obtain them include crafting, putting a Spice Berry in a Seed Maker, the Summer Foraging Bundle reward, the Traveling Cart, and a Desert Trader exchange. Crafting produces 10 Summer Seeds per recipe; a Spice Berry placed in a Seed Maker yields 1–3 seeds. The Summer Foraging Bundle reward is 30 seeds.

How to choose for the days you have left

  • Count backward from the season change. Blueberries and Starfruit take 13 days to reach the first harvest; Melons take 12 and Hops 11. A planting made late in Summer may not mature in time.
  • Match the crop to your cash and seed access. Blueberry and Melon seeds cost 80g at Pierre’s, while Starfruit Seeds cost 400g at the Oasis. Summer Seeds come from crafting or other listed sources rather than Pierre’s or JojaMart.
  • Account for collection and field access. Repeat crops require later visits to harvest; Hops additionally need pathways around trellises.
  • Use daily-return figures as comparisons, not promises. The wiki crop table’s values exclude fertilizer and the Tiller profession and use its own harvest assumptions. A different planting date or farm setup changes the result.

The Stardew Valley Wiki’s crop reference gives a general way to compare crops using harvest count, sale price, seed price, and growing days: Crops. Update 1.6 added Carrot, Summer Squash, Broccoli, Powdermelon, and Mixed Flower Seeds to the seed reference, but the cited material does not establish which of those are summer plantings. Check a crop’s season before treating it as a Summer option: Seeds.
