Square Enix promised “various projects” celebrating Chrono Trigger’s 30th anniversary, but its March 11, 2025 announcement did not reveal a remake or list a complete schedule. Follow-up releases included new music arrangements, a four-record original-soundtrack vinyl box, and a Tokyo orchestra concert held in January 2026.
What did Square Enix announce?
On March 11, 2025—the 30th anniversary of Chrono Trigger’s original 1995 release—Square Enix said it would launch “various projects that go beyond the world of the game over the next year” to thank players. The statement directed fans to Square Enix’s official X account and @ChronoTriggerPR for updates. Nintendo Life reproduced an English translation of the official social-account statement; it was not attributed to an individually named speaker. Read Nintendo Life’s coverage of the announcement.

The promise was deliberately broad: it did not enumerate every project or announce a remake. Nintendo Life’s report also identified a special soundtrack livestream scheduled for March 14, 2025. That broadcast date has passed.
Which anniversary music projects were confirmed?
Square Enix Music’s catalog lists several later releases. The catalog confirms these products, but does not establish that each was named in the initial March 2025 announcement. See Square Enix Music’s Chrono catalog.

| Release | What it contains | Catalog date |
|---|---|---|
| CHRONO TRIGGER Piano Soundscape Arrangement | 12 newly arranged piano tracks focused on character themes | November 26, 2025 |
| CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestral Arrangement 時を超える旋律 | Arrangements performed in the anniversary concert; this is reworked orchestral material, not the original soundtrack | January 14, 2026 |
| CHRONO TRIGGER Original Soundtrack Vinyl LP Box | The original soundtrack on four vinyl records, with 64 tracks | March 25, 2026 |
The distinction matters when choosing what to listen to: the vinyl box is the original soundtrack in a physical format, while the piano and orchestral albums are arrangements. The listed dates and specifications come from Square Enix Music; current regional pricing, stock, and retailer availability are not established by those catalog entries.
What happened with the orchestra concert?
Square Enix announced CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert 時を超える旋律 for January 17 and 18, 2026, at Tokyo International Forum Hall A. Nicholas Buck was named as conductor, with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra performing alongside scenes from the game. The concert dates have passed. The initial e-STORE ticket lottery application window, September 1–17, 2025, is also over. Square Enix’s concert announcement used the heading “あの冒険が、音楽とともに再び時を超える” (“That adventure once again transcends time with music”).

Was a Chrono Trigger remake announced?
No remake was announced in the March 11, 2025 anniversary statement. It promised projects beyond the game world but gave no complete project list. The confirmed follow-ups described above are music releases and a concert; fan speculation or rumors should not be mistaken for a Square Enix remake announcement.
