Sandfall Interactive released the free Thank You update for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on December 12, 2025, after the game won nine categories at The Game Awards, including Game of the Year. Its biggest addition is Verso’s Drafts, a new playable area, alongside fresh battles, Photo Mode, more equipment and cosmetics, seven languages, and other changes.
What is in the Thank You update?
Verso’s Drafts is the update’s central addition: a storybook-like adventure connected to young Verso, with new environments, battles, cutscenes, and surprises. Sandfall founder and creative director Guillaume Broche described it as a brand-new level. The update also adds music by composer Lorien Testard.

New combat options and encounters
Players can take on new late-game boss encounters in the Endless Tower. The update adds 13 weapons and 16 Luminas, as well as Lumina loadouts. These additions give players new equipment and ways to configure builds while exploring the new content.
Photo Mode and cosmetics
Photo Mode lets players stage and adjust shots with 33 filters and 10 customizable lights. New costumes and hairstyles provide additional character customization.

Languages and game improvements
The update adds Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian text and UI localizations, bringing the supported-language total to 19. Sandfall also lists quality-of-life and performance improvements across platforms, including handheld PCs; the announcement does not provide independent performance measurements.
Is the update free, and where can you get it?
Yes. Sandfall announced the Thank You update as free, not as a paid standalone expansion. Its December 12, 2025 announcement listed Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the rollout spanning platforms and regions. Players access it through the platform on which they play the base game; no separate update purchase is required.

Why did Sandfall release it after The Game Awards?
Sandfall framed the update as a thank-you to the community after a successful year. In October 2025, when it announced that the game had sold 5 million copies worldwide, the studio previewed a new environment, late-game bosses, costumes, and seven language additions. The December release delivered on that preview.
The timing followed a major awards night: SEGA reported that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 received 12 nominations at The Game Awards 2025 and won nine categories—Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Performance, Best Independent Game, Best Debut Independent Game, and Best RPG.

Sandfall also cited more than 333 million soundtrack track streams in its 2025 community update. That figure, like the five-million-copy milestone, is the studio’s own reported statistic.
