Molten Core and Onyxia’s Lair opened on WoW Classic 20th Anniversary realms on December 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. PST. Blizzard said the opening was global and covered Anniversary PvE, PvP, and Hardcore realms. That date is historical, not an upcoming release schedule.
When did Molten Core and Onyxia’s Lair open?
Blizzard’s December 6, 2024 roundup set the global opening for both raids at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on December 12. The announcement applied to the WoW Classic 20th Anniversary realms. Blizzard’s roundup gives the time and date.
Which Anniversary realms were included?
The opening covered Anniversary PvE, PvP, and Hardcore realms. Blizzard said Hardcore realms progress through Classic Era phases, so Molten Core unlocked there alongside the Normal PvE and PvP realms. The announcement did not separately specify when Onyxia’s Lair unlocked on Hardcore realms; it should not be assumed from the stated Molten Core rule.

These locations, requirements, encounter details, and reward examples come from Blizzard’s raid overview. Its Molten Core guidance recommends reaching level 60 and becoming attuned to the Core to avoid the longer approach through Blackrock Depths.

What was different about Anniversary raid rules?
Blizzard noted that Anniversary realms have no buff or debuff limits. That is a realm rule, rather than a separate entry requirement for either raid.
