EA’s refund policy covers eligible full-game downloads bought through the EA app or EA.com, but not purchases processed by Steam, console stores, mobile app stores, other online platforms, or physical retailers. For an EA purchase, eligibility depends on when you bought or launched the game, what you bought, and whether an exception applies.
First, check where you bought the game
EA can process refunds only for qualifying purchases made through the EA app or EA.com. Its policy covers eligible full EA game downloads for PC or Mac and certain participating third-party games; a third-party title must have the applicable designation when purchased. EA states, “EA can’t process refunds for purchases made through other online platforms or from physical retailers.”
If you bought through Steam, Epic, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, a mobile app store, or a physical retailer, contact that platform or seller instead. The seller that took payment handles the refund under its own rules.
Check the EA refund deadlines
For an eligible EA-app or EA.com game purchase, EA lists three standard timing conditions. The launch-based and purchase-based windows are separate tests:
#1 Best Overall
- Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 (disc) includes the full EA SPORTS College Football 27 game.
- DYNASTY BLUEPRINT – Control your program’s future with recruiting, NIL, staff, facilities, and Athletic Director Expectations..
- ROAD TO GLORY – Build your player, explore new positions, earn NIL deals, chase the Heisman, and raise your Legacy Score.
- MASCOT MASHUP – Play as your favorite mascot, collect 120+ icons, and compete in wild 11-on-11 matchups full of school spirit.
| Situation | EA policy window |
|---|---|
| You launched the game | Request within 24 hours after the first launch. |
| You have not launched the game | Request within 14 days of purchase. |
| You preordered the game | Request before its release date. |
These are EA policy thresholds, not a universal 14-day refund guarantee for every game or storefront. Check the transaction and current policy terms, particularly if you are close to a deadline.
Technical problems: a narrower exception
EA allows a request within 72 hours after first launch when all of these conditions apply: it is a new EA game bought within 30 days of release, you cannot play it because of a technical problem, and the problem is within EA’s control. EA gives server issues and bugs as examples. This is not a general 72-hour extension for a player who simply changed their mind.

What EA’s policy excludes
- Separately purchased DLC and in-game currency: EA says these are not refundable under its policy. Third-party DLC is also not eligible.
- Some editions and bundles: Some editions containing virtual currency or content packs are excluded. Bundled games and content generally must be returned together, rather than as individual items.
- Payment methods that cannot be refunded: EA identifies non-refundable payment methods as ineligible.
- A third refund for the same game: EA says a game can be refunded only twice under its policy.
Eligibility depends on the specific item and transaction; do not assume every game or add-on in an order qualifies.
How to request an eligible EA refund
- Open EA’s Refund Tool and sign in to the EA Account used for the purchase.
- Select the game, choose a reason, and confirm the refund payment method.
- Submit the request. EA says the status appears beside the game and that it sends a confirmation email.
You can also sign in to your EA Account, go to Payments & Wallet and then Order history, expand the transaction, and choose the refund request option to reach the tool. If the transaction is missing or the self-service request is unavailable, contact EA support through the current refund-policy page. Keep your receipt or order record handy so you can confirm the seller and purchase date.

- Standard Edition for Xbox Series X (disc) includes the full EA SPORTS College Football 27 game. Not compatible with Xbox One.

Preorders, EA Play, and consumer rights
Preorders
EA says preorders placed through the EA app or EA.com can be cancelled and refunded before release. For a preorder bought elsewhere, request cancellation from the platform or retailer that processed it.
EA Play memberships
EA says PC EA Play memberships are generally not refundable, but advises members who believe they may qualify to contact support. Withdrawal rights can depend on the country and on whether digital content was downloaded or the subscription was accessed; there is no universal 14-day guarantee established here.

Rights under local law
EA’s policy does not replace statutory consumer rights. Depending on local law and the seller, faulty digital content may qualify for a repair, replacement, partial refund, or full refund. The available remedy and conditions vary by jurisdiction, so check the consumer protections that apply where you live and the terms of the seller that took payment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Contact EA before considering a chargeback
If you believe you qualify but have not received a refund, EA asks you to contact it before submitting a chargeback. EA warns that an out-of-policy chargeback may lead to the EA Account being locked or restricted, or the charged-back content being removed. That is EA’s stated policy consequence, not a substitute for advice about your legal or payment rights.
