You can transfer an eligible Purified Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, but it loses its Purified status and cannot be sent back to Pokémon GO. Check the transfer details before confirming.
What happens to a Purified Pokémon when you transfer it?
Niantic says Purified Pokémon lose their Purified status when sent to Pokémon HOME. The Pokémon can still be transferred if it is otherwise eligible, but its Purified status does not carry over.
The transfer is one-way: Pokémon sent to HOME cannot return to Pokémon GO. You also need to receive the transfer in Pokémon HOME before the Pokémon appears in your HOME Boxes. Niantic’s Pokémon GO Help Center explains the transfer rules.
Check eligibility and transfer details first
Purified status itself does not prevent a transfer. However, Niantic lists several categories that cannot be sent, including Shadow Pokémon, costumed Pokémon, favorites, Buddy Pokémon, Pokémon defending Gyms, Spinda, and Mega-Evolved Pokémon.

- 1 GX, EX, V, VMax, Full Art, Tag Team, or Secret Rare
For an eligible Pokémon, the confirmation screen shows the GO Transporter Energy required and indicates whether the Pokémon will change form. Niantic notes that transfer restrictions and form changes may expand, so use the current in-game screen as the final check.
How to send a Pokémon from GO to HOME
- In Pokémon GO, go to Settings → Connected Devices and Services → Pokémon HOME, then sign in with the Nintendo Account associated with your Pokémon HOME account.
- Choose Send Pokémon to open the GO Transporter.
- Select the Pokémon. Review its energy cost and any form-change notice.
- Confirm only if you accept the loss of its Purified status and the one-way transfer to HOME.
- Open Pokémon HOME and receive the transfer. The Pokémon will then appear in your HOME Boxes.
How GO Transporter Energy works
The GO Transporter uses energy to send Pokémon, and the amount required depends on the Pokémon. Niantic says the first transfer begins with a fully charged transporter. After that, energy accumulates over time, and players can also recharge it immediately with PokéCoins.
