No explicit-content filter is documented in Rockstar’s published GTA V settings guidance. The game’s settings let you adjust options such as controls, audio, camera, and display, but the guidance does not describe a switch to remove mature scenes or dialogue. Parental controls can restrict access to the whole game; they do not edit its content.

Can you disable nudity or profanity in the settings?
Rockstar’s settings instructions say to open the Pause Menu in Story Mode or Online, choose Settings, and select options such as controls, audio, camera, and display. They do not document an explicit-content or profanity filter. That means there is no official settings path in this guidance for turning off nudity, sexual content, or story dialogue. See Rockstar’s settings guidance, last updated April 20, 2024.
What can parental controls do?
On PlayStation in the United States, a parent or guardian can use parental controls to restrict a sub-account’s access to software according to its ESRB age rating. This is an access gate: it can prevent access to GTA V, but it cannot selectively remove scenes, language, or other content once the game is running. The cited PlayStation information is specific to its platform and US ratings context; it should not be treated as a menu guide for Xbox or PC. PlayStation’s ratings and parental-controls information.

Do GTA Online chat controls change Story Mode content?
No. Rockstar’s GTA Online support information addresses reporting adult nudity or sexual content, offensive player-created content, and certain online communication features such as voice chat and in-game chat. These tools concern player interactions, moderation, or user-created material; Rockstar does not describe them as filters for the single-player story. See Rockstar’s GTA Online reporting guidance.
Which option fits your concern?
| Concern | What the documented option does | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| A child should not access GTA V | PlayStation parental controls can restrict software access by ESRB age rating for a sub-account in the United States. | They do not remove selected content while allowing access to the rest of the game. |
| Unwanted online interactions or player-created material | GTA Online has communication and reporting/moderation tools for certain player activity and content. | They are not documented as a Story Mode content filter. |
| Nudity, sexual content, or profanity in the story | No filter for these elements is documented in Rockstar’s published settings guidance. | Display, audio, or other ordinary settings are not presented as a way to censor story content. |
If you need to avoid mature story content
Do not rely on a settings toggle or a different edition to make GTA V suitable: the cited official sources do not establish a content-filter option in any edition. The practical choice is whether to allow access to the game at all, informed by the ESRB description and your own content requirements.
