Sandfall Interactive’s free “Thank You” update for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released in December 2025. It adds Verso’s Drafts, Photo Mode, new weapons and Luminas, fresh late-game challenges, and quality-of-life improvements. The update is no longer upcoming.
What’s in the Thank You Update?
The headline addition is Verso’s Drafts, a new playable environment connected to a young Verso. It brings new areas to explore, enemies, secrets, and story content. Composer Lorien Testard described its music as written for “a very special level, a deep and playful part of Verso’s childhood.”

The update also expands the game’s equipment and customization, adds a photo tool, and introduces difficult encounters for players looking for more to do after the main adventure.
New weapons, Luminas, costumes, and hairstyles
The PlayStation Blog’s December 11, 2025 feature lists 13 new weapons and 16 additional Luminas. The update also adds unlockable costumes and hairstyles. Lumina search filters and preset Lumina loadouts make it easier to find and organize options.

Photo Mode
Photo Mode includes filters and effects, adjustable camera angle and field of view, color grading, and lighting controls. It can also be used during cinematics; Senior Gameplay Programmer Florien Torres said players could “get very creative with” that option.
Endless Tower challenges
The Endless Tower gains challenging late-game boss encounters. These provide additional combat challenges for players who have progressed far enough to take them on.

Quality-of-life and performance improvements
Sandfall’s release notice describes quality-of-life and performance improvements across platforms, including handheld PC systems. Other cited examples include the ability to abandon battles. The official posts do not provide a platform-by-platform performance benchmark, so these improvements should not be read as a quantified guarantee for every device.
Is the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 update free?
Yes. Sandfall described the “Thank You” update as free, and Guillaume Broche said it was available on PS5 on December 11, 2025 “for free.” It is a free game update, not a paid DLC purchase.

When was the update released, and where is it available?
Broche announced on December 11, 2025 that the update was available immediately. Sandfall’s official release notice, posted December 12, said it was rolling out across platforms and regions. Official platform posts identify PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC storefronts. The notices describe the same update features; they do not establish that content differs by platform.
If you do not see the update, check your platform’s game update queue or the game’s update page in its store. Availability can depend on the platform’s regional rollout and update delivery.

Which languages were added?
Seven text and UI localizations were added: Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian. Sandfall said the additions brought the supported-language total to 19.

Sandfall framed the update as a thank-you after a successful year for the game. In an October 8, 2025 announcement, the studio reported 5 million copies sold worldwide and more than 333 million soundtrack track streams. Those are figures reported at that time, not current totals. Broche said the team had “poured our hearts into this update to make it something major for fans to dig into.”
