The paid expansion adds Sakhal, a frozen volcanic archipelago where subzero temperatures, scarce food and hazardous terrain make survival the central challenge. Frostline has been available since launch; “out now” is no longer a new-release announcement.
When did DayZ: Frostline come out?
Bohemia Interactive released Frostline and DayZ Update 1.26 on October 15, 2024. The publisher’s launch announcement introduced the expansion and its new map, Sakhal.
What does Frostline add?
Sakhal, a frozen volcanic archipelago
Sakhal is DayZ’s third official map. Its landscape includes snowy forests, settlements, broad ice fields, windy hilltops and a large naval base. The volcanic environment also brings contamination hazards, adding another risk to navigating the island.
Cold and food scarcity shape the intended survival experience. Bohemia Interactive says temperatures on Sakhal are usually below 0°C, while food is scarce and often frozen, so players may need to thaw it. Hunting and fishing become important ways to find food: the expansion adds three huntable animals and two fish.

How big is Sakhal?
The figures published by Bohemia Interactive describe different areas, so they should not be treated as interchangeable. The official Frostline product page describes Sakhal as 83 km², excluding ice sheets. A 2024 DayZ announcement on Steam gives a later figure of 105 km² for the landmass and 236 km² for the playable area when navigable waters are included.

Where can you play Frostline?
