BAT, WEASEL and PORPOISE have all been linked to Destiny 2 connectivity or Bungie-side issues, but the codes do not prove your home network is at fault. Bungie Help was reported to be investigating all three during a June 2021 incident; that historical report does not establish an active investigation today. Are BAT, WEASEL and PORPOISE under investigation now?
There is no verified current investigation notice in the available information. GamesRadar reported that Bungie Help was investigating BAT, WEASEL and PORPOISE errors on June 24–25, 2021, before emergency maintenance. That describes the 2021 incident, not Destiny 2’s live status on October 8, 2026. Check Bungie Help for current service updates before assuming the problem is ongoing.

What the Destiny 2 error codes may mean
A code can point toward a likely context, but it is not a definitive diagnosis. The reports describe both player-side connectivity possibilities and Bungie-side conditions.

What to do when one of these errors appears
- Check Bungie’s current service updates. If a live service issue is reported, changing local network settings may not help.
- If the code is PORPOISE, retry the activity. GosuNoob’s February 28, 2023 guide reports this as the first step in Bungie’s guidance.
- If PORPOISE keeps returning, exit and relaunch Destiny 2. The same guide reports relaunching as the next step.
- For BAT or WEASEL, treat connectivity as one possibility, not a verdict. The historical explanations include Bungie-side conditions as well as player or internet-provider connectivity.
- Use the code’s context before making changes. For WEASEL, note whether multiple platforms are signed in through Cross Save, whether an activity restriction applies, or whether the error followed a major update; these are contexts reported by a 2023 secondary guide, not confirmed explanations for every case.
What Bungie’s Porpoise guidance said
GamesRadar reproduced Bungie’s support guidance for repeated PORPOISE errors: “If you continue to see this error, it’s likely due to testing we are doing on our end, please pardon our dust.” This is a quote reported in connection with historical guidance, not a verified current Bungie notice.
