Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition is the 2014 console package that combines Diablo III with the Reaper of Souls expansion. Its strongest case is still easy to understand: fast, loot-focused action that works well with a controller and supports up to four players together on one screen or online. Contemporary reviews were strongly positive, but current store availability, online services and platform support should be checked separately.
What is Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition?
Ultimate Evil Edition is a console release of Diablo III bundled with the Reaper of Souls expansion content and updates. Blizzard announced it on May 12, 2014, and it launched on August 19, 2014. The package’s expansion-era additions include Act V, the Crusader class, Adventure Mode, randomized Bounties, Nephalem Rifts, expanded Paragon progression, the Mystic and a level cap of 70. What did reviewers think?
GameSpot: 9/10
GameSpot reviewer Miguel Concepcion rated the game 9/10 (“Superb”) in a review published September 10, 2014. He praised its accessibility for newcomers, social features, rewarding exploration and loot, and replayability through Adventure Mode and difficulty choices. The review describes rapid loot turnover as part of the game’s momentum and highlights co-op features that let lower-level players join stronger friends. Its main caveat: some classes are less suited to solo play. Concepcion said he played on PS4 and Xbox One, completing all five campaign acts and several Adventure Mode quests. Read GameSpot’s review
Den of Geek: strong praise for the console experience
Jason M. Gallagher’s August 27, 2014 review praised the port, calling attention to the Crusader, Act V, Adventure Mode, Nephalem Rifts, controller-friendly play and the appeal of couch co-op. It also observed that the graphics upgrade would matter less to someone already playing Reaper of Souls on a high-end PC; that was a launch-era comparison, not a current technical assessment. How does co-op work?
The release announcement specifies up to four players in same-screen or online multiplayer. That makes the console package particularly suited to playing together in a living room, as well as joining friends online. Apprentice mode was included to help players of different levels play together, and an in-game mail system provided a way to share treasure. Blizzard’s release announcement
Is Ultimate Evil Edition worth it?
For someone seeking Diablo III and its expansion-era campaign and endgame content in one console release, the edition has a clear appeal: substantial action-RPG progression, loot-driven combat, couch co-op and replayable Adventure Mode activities. The 2014 reviews support that case, especially for newcomers and groups who value accessible controller play. If you mostly play alone, consider GameSpot’s warning that class choice can affect how well the experience suits solo play.

Blizzard’s console Seasons guide describes Seasonal heroes as separate from non-Seasonal characters. At a season’s end, eligible rewards and progress move to non-Seasonal characters. The guide says starting a Seasonal character requires a PlayStation Network or Xbox Live login while a Season is active. Because the page is season-relative, it should not be treated as confirmation that a particular season or platform service is active today. Blizzard’s console Seasons guide
