Diablo 4 Season 8, titled Belial’s Return, launched on April 29, 2025, at 10 a.m. PDT. It is a past season, not an upcoming release. Its main features were a new Belial-focused questline, Boss Powers, Apparition Monsters and Incursions, changes involving Lair Bosses, new Legendary and Unique items, and Reliquaries for cosmetic rewards.
When did Diablo 4 Season 8 start?
Blizzard announced that Season 8 would begin on April 29, 2025, at 10 a.m. PDT. The season is historical as of October 8, 2026. Blizzard’s Season 8 announcement introduced it as Belial’s Return.

What was Season 8: Belial’s Return about?
The seasonal story centered on the return of Belial, the Lord of Lies, and mysterious Apparition Monsters appearing across Sanctuary. Players investigated alongside Sayeena, a retired Vizjerei mage, and Jarius, who presented himself as a Cathedral of Light knight.
How to start the seasonal quest
At launch, players started the Lord of Lies quest by speaking with the Stranger near the Kyovashad waypoint. They needed to complete the base game campaign and create a new character on the Seasonal Realm. These were the season’s launch requirements; Season 8 is no longer active.

How did Boss Powers work?
Boss Powers were abilities players could claim by defeating designated World, Event, and Lair Bosses. Blizzard described 24 bosses as sources of powers. Each power had a Main effect and a Modifier effect, with the effect used depending on the slot assigned to it.
A character could equip one Main Boss Power and up to three Modifier Boss Powers at a time. This made the system a layer of build customization rather than a separate class or item category. Blizzard’s Season 8 announcement explained the system, while the subsequent 2.2 patch notes recorded fixes to individual powers and encounters. Those fixes are evidence of later adjustments, not proof that every power behaved differently for every player.

What were Apparition Monsters and Incursions?
Apparition Monsters and Incursions were seasonal encounters tied to the Belial story. Blizzard’s launch announcement presented them as part of the threats players would investigate and fight. The 2.2 patch notes later documented fixes involving Apparition bosses, Belial ambush behavior, and boss encounters. Those notes describe particular fixes and should not be read as a complete account of how every encounter changed over the season.
What were Reliquaries?
Reliquaries replaced the traditional Battle Pass reward presentation with a system that let players choose the order in which to unlock cosmetic rewards. Season 8 included a non-premium Belial’s Return Reliquary and premium Weapons, Beasts, and Armor Reliquaries. Blizzard’s launch announcement listed the following historical prices and bundle:

These are Season 8’s announced terms, not current shop prices or proof that the Reliquaries remain available. Blizzard said unclaimed rewards disappeared when a Reliquary expired, so choosing the order did not remove the time limit.

No. Blizzard’s Twitch Drops announcement listed the campaign dates as April 29 through May 13, 2025. The announced cosmetic required at least three hours of eligible viewing, with accounts linked. The campaign has ended, so those Drops should not be treated as currently claimable.

What else did Season 8 add?
Blizzard also announced new Legendary and Unique items as part of the season. The available official details cited here do not establish an exhaustive item inventory or the items’ present-day build value, so they are best understood as part of the launch feature list rather than a current build recommendation.
