Diablo IV’s Rogue skill Dance of Knives was affected by a damage bug that let it deal far more damage than intended. Blizzard says it fixed the issue in Hotfix 2 for version 3.2.1, released September 17, 2026. What happened with Dance of Knives?
The issue affected the Rogue’s Dance of Knives skill. In its September 17, 2026 hotfix post, Blizzard said it had “Fixed an issue where Rogue’s Dance of Knives could sometimes deal far higher damage than intended.” That official description establishes that damage could exceed the intended level; it does not quantify how high.

Mobalytics’ September 22 report characterized the problem as an “infinite damage scaling bug.” That wording is a description from Mobalytics, not Blizzard’s technical explanation.
Was the bug fixed, and is it still live?
Blizzard listed the Dance of Knives damage issue among the fixes in Hotfix 2 for Diablo IV version 3.2.1, dated September 17, 2026. Blizzard’s September 30, 2026 build 3.2.2 notes list other fixes and do not mention another Dance of Knives damage fix. The latest documented fix in these official posts is therefore the September 17 hotfix; the notes alone do not establish whether the issue has recurred since.

What caused the damage spike?
The cited posts do not identify the technical cause, a reliable trigger sequence, affected platforms, or a maximum damage value. There is not enough documented information to give players a reproducible build or claim that a particular charm, rune, or imbuement caused it.

No connection is established. Mobalytics separately reported that another bug affecting Whispers turn-ins was created during the hotfix process. Its report does not say that the Dance of Knives damage issue caused the Whispers problem.
