If Disney Dreamlight Valley is crashing on your PS4, start with game and system updates, then use PlayStation’s software troubleshooting steps. A crash in this game alone does not prove your console is faulty.
What Gameloft has acknowledged
Gameloft’s Known Issues listing includes “My game randomly crashes on PlayStation® consoles” and a separate entry for “My game crashes and I get the error CE-38700-8 on PlayStation.” Those entries refer to PlayStation consoles generally; they do not identify PS4 as the only affected platform or explain a universal cause. The listing does not expose a clear update date for these entries, so check the live page for current wording.
There is also a specific historical PS4 stability note. In its Scar’s Kingdom Update Patch Notes, published October 18, 2022, Gameloft wrote: “Improved stability & performance on PlayStation 4.” That confirms stability work at the time, not that every crash was resolved or that the same problem persists in the current PS4 build.
Gameloft’s August 4, 2026 hotfix notes list specific fixes but do not mention PS4 crashes. They therefore do not settle the current status of this issue.

What to try on PS4
PlayStation’s game-crash troubleshooting guidance recommends checking software first. Try these steps in order:
- Update the game. Check for the latest Disney Dreamlight Valley update on your PS4.
- Update the PS4 system software. Install any available system update, then test the game again.
- Test whether the existing save is involved. PlayStation’s guidance suggests starting without the existing save to check for save corruption. Treat this as a diagnostic test, not a recommendation to delete your only save. Protect your progress before changing or removing save data; the steps available for managing it can vary by account and locale.
- Reinstall the game. If updating does not help, reinstall it using PlayStation’s guidance and test again.
These steps can help narrow down the problem, but none guarantees a fix. The available official issue listing does not establish that a damaged save, overheating, a failing hard drive, or any one game feature is the cause of an individual crash.

When to consider a console problem
Pay attention to whether the crashes happen only in Disney Dreamlight Valley or in several games. PlayStation advises that trouble persisting across multiple games may indicate a console issue and directs players to its repair support. If only Dreamlight Valley crashes, that alone is not evidence of a hardware fault; contact the game’s support or check its live Known Issues listing and the latest platform-specific patch notes.
