When did Doug Bowser retire, and who replaced him?
Nintendo’s official personnel-change notice set Bowser’s retirement as NOA president for December 31, 2025, and Pritchard’s succession for January 1, 2026. The dates mark a consecutive handover between the end of one year and the start of the next.
| Effective date | Leadership change |
|---|---|
| December 31, 2025 | Doug Bowser retired as Nintendo of America president. |
| January 1, 2026 | Devon Pritchard succeeded Bowser. |
Nintendo of America announced the planned change on September 25, 2025. Nintendo Co., Ltd.’s September 26, 2025 notice gives the formal dates. Hasbro’s current director biography records that Bowser retired from NOA in January 2026, corroborating that the announced transition took place: Hasbro’s biography of Doug Bowser.
Who is Devon Pritchard?
At the time Nintendo announced her appointment, Pritchard was NOA’s executive vice president of revenue, marketing and consumer experience. Nintendo described her as a long-standing member of NOA’s leadership team and a 19-year veteran of the video game industry. Those are Nintendo’s descriptions in its 2025 announcement, rather than independently calculated measures of her tenure.
