The official roster lists Rhamphorhynchus, Thalassodromeus, and Hatzegopteryx in its Flying category. Strictly speaking, they are pterosaurs—flying reptiles, not dinosaurs.
Which flying creatures can you play?
Alderon Games’ official roster, updated September 11, 2026, lists three creatures under “Flying”: Rhamphorhynchus, Thalassodromeus, and Hatzegopteryx. The roster marks creatures that are planned but not yet playable with an asterisk; none of these three is marked that way. See the official Path of Titans roster.
The game may use “flyers” as a convenient gameplay label, and players may casually call them flying dinosaurs. Scientifically, pterosaurs were a separate group of flying reptiles, not dinosaurs.
How does flying work?
Flyers are not all handled the same way. An October 14, 2025 Rhamphorhynchus update describes hovering, slow-flying, and gliding states. It contrasts Hatzegopteryx’s long-distance gliding with Rhamphorhynchus’s more rapid flapping style. Those are mechanics described in that update, not a guarantee that every detail remains unchanged after later patches. Read Alderon’s Rhamphorhynchus update.

- Explore the Island: Solve the mystery of The ARK as you explore this massive island, discovering Explorer's Notebooks (filled with clues!) throughout
Thalassodromeus also shows how flight abilities can shape a creature’s playstyle. Alderon’s February 14, 2026 update describes air-combat, grounded, and glide builds; some glide abilities reduce stamina drain or slow descent, and the update discusses using wind and updrafts to travel. The exact abilities may change with subsequent updates. Read the Thalassodromeus update.
Where can you use the flyers?
When Thalassodromeus was introduced with Gondwa on December 7, 2022, Alderon described using thermal updrafts, cliffs, and dives, and said flyers and swimmers were then enabled only on Gondwa. That was the availability stated at launch; it should not be treated as confirmation of the current map restrictions. See the original Gondwa announcement.
The roster confirms the three creatures are playable, but the sources cited here do not establish a current map-by-map availability list. Check the game’s current map and server options for what is available in your build.
Which flyer should you choose?
There is no supported universal “best flyer” ranking here. The official updates instead point to different movement styles and ability choices: Hatzegopteryx is described as a long-distance glider, Rhamphorhynchus as a more rapid flapper with hovering and slow-flight states, and Thalassodromeus as having air-combat, grounded, and glide builds. Choose based on the style you want rather than assuming they share the same handling or role.

Can you play Path of Titans now?
Yes. Alderon’s FAQ, updated May 15, 2026, says the game can be played while it remains in active pre-release development and lists PC, mobile, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. That information does not establish that every platform has identical features or that a full-release date has been set. Check Alderon’s official FAQ.
