Player reports say pausing, opening Options, and selecting Quit ends the run while keeping earned gold and unlocks. It ends that run rather than saving it for you to resume later. The solo-run guidance comes from Steam Community posts, not an official guarantee, so use the in-game command rather than assuming a force-close or power loss behaves the same way.
How to quit a run and keep its earned progress
- Pause the game.
- Open Options.
- Select Quit.
Steam Community players report that this ends the run and processes earned rewards much like dying. Their reports say collected gold and unlocks are retained. This is player guidance, not a developer-confirmed promise for every platform. See the [Steam Community discussion] and [player guidance].
Quitting ends the active run
The reported Quit behavior takes you out of the run; it does not create a mid-run save to resume later. If you want to continue that same attempt, do not choose Quit.
Online co-op has an end-of-run save choice
For online co-op, poncle’s FAQ says pickups, gold, and achievements are collected as a group during a run. At the end, each player chooses whether to save that progress to their own file. What if the game crashes or you close it abruptly?
The cited reports cover selecting Quit in the game menu; they do not establish whether force-closing the app, a crash, or power loss preserves progress in the same way. Use Options → Quit when you intend to end a run.
