Yes. Hytale supports Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch controllers on PC. Controller support arrived as a first iteration, and some advanced tasks may still be easier—or require you—to use a keyboard and mouse. That does not mean Hytale is available on PlayStation or Xbox consoles: Early Access is PC-only, with a console release planned for a later stage.
Which controllers work with Hytale?
Hytale’s Update 5 notes say to plug in an Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch controller; the game should detect it. The notes describe support for moving, fighting, exploring, and navigating menus. They do not list every individual model, adapter, or connection method, so support for a specific setup is not guaranteed by the family names alone. Hytale Update 5 patch notes
Later updates expanded the experience. Update 6 added profiles for more gamepad models and gyro camera aiming for capable controllers, with DualSense and Switch Pro given as examples. Is Hytale on PlayStation or Xbox consoles?
No console edition is established by the controller-support announcements. The official FAQ says Early Access is PC-only and that a console release is planned for a later stage. A controller connected to a PC is an input device for the PC version, not access to a PlayStation or Xbox build. What can you do with a controller, and where are the limits?
Core play and menus
Update 5 supports movement, combat, exploration, and menu navigation. Its implementation was layered onto the existing interface, using grid-based navigation rather than a virtual cursor. Abilities and button combinations
Update 7 changed controller ability controls: hold the right bumper, then press another button to use an ability. The same update says the rebinding interface shows which keys and controller buttons can be held as part of a combo binding. Controller settings and accessibility options
Update 5 lets players adjust the movement-stick dead zone from 5% to 95%. A higher dead zone can reduce unintended movement from slight stick input, while a lower one makes the stick respond to smaller movements; tune it to your controller and preference. The official accessibility page also lists controller support and remapping all controls. These listed features do not establish that every accessibility need is covered. How to start playing with a controller
- Connect an Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch controller to the PC running Hytale. The Update 5 notes say the game picks up these controller families.
- Open the in-game Controller or Controls settings to inspect the available mappings and adjust the stick dead zone.
- If your controller supports gyro and you want motion aiming, enable it under Controller settings.
- Check the current ability mapping and rebinding options in Controls, especially if following older instructions; Update 7 uses a right-bumper-plus-button combo for abilities.
- Keep a keyboard and mouse available for advanced tasks that the controller implementation does not cover.
