Santa is classified as an Event Boss by the Escape from Tarkov community wiki. That label does not mean he is part of the regular, year-round boss roster: his appearances are tied to limited-time events.
Is Santa a boss or just a Scav?
Both labels apply in different ways. The community wiki identifies Santa Claus, also known as Ded Moroz, as an Event Boss and lists his faction as Scavs. In other words, his Scav faction does not cancel out his event-boss classification. The wiki’s Santa Claus page gives the classification and faction.
Does Santa spawn in every Tarkov raid?
No year-round availability follows from the boss label. The wiki’s event chronology records Santa during the Khorovod event on 26 December 2024 and the Kolotun event on 24 December 2025. Those entries describe dated event appearances, not a permanent spawn; they do not establish that Santa is active on 8 October 2026. See the event chronology.
What is known about Santa’s encounter?
Locations and health reported by the wiki
The community wiki lists Factory, Customs, Woods, Lighthouse, Shoreline, Reserve, Interchange, Streets of Tarkov, and Ground Zero (Level 21+) as locations, and says Santa wanders on all locations except The Lab and The Labyrinth. These are wiki-reported event details that may change with updates, not confirmation of current spawns.
#1 Best Overall
The same wiki reports 1,040 total health: Head 80, Thorax 280, Stomach 180, Arms 120 each, and Legs 130 each. It notes that these values differ from those of PMCs and Scavs. Treat the figures as community-wiki data, not official developer specifications.
Historical behavior and Fence reputation
In a December 2021 announcement for patch 0.12.12.10, Battlestate Games described Santa as a peaceful bot who could give presents, would not interfere with firefights, and would retaliate if injured. The announcement also said that killing him as a PMC or Scav caused a significant Fence reputation penalty. This is historical official information; it does not verify Santa’s behavior or the penalty in the current build. The announcement appeared on the official Escape from Tarkov Telegram channel.
