Yes. Asphalt Legends supports controllers, including on iPhone and iPad, but compatibility depends on the platform, controller, operating system, and game version. The official sources do not list every compatible third-party controller, so check your exact setup before buying one.
Which platforms support controllers?
- iPhone and iPad: Apple’s App Store listing marks Asphalt Legends as “Controller Supported.” That confirms controller support for the iOS and iPadOS listing, but does not guarantee that every controller model works with every device or game version. See the App Store listing.
- PS5: PlayStation documents controller features for the PS5 version, including basic button remapping and adjustable stick sensitivity. These are PS5-specific options, not a compatibility promise for other platforms. See PlayStation’s game page.
- Other platforms: Gameloft’s launch announcement lists Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Store, Steam, the App Store, Google Play, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. It also says a Nintendo Switch version would follow. The announcement confirms the game’s platform availability and says its interface was improved for controller players, but it does not provide a model-by-model controller list for those platforms. Will your specific controller work?
Official information confirms controller support in some contexts, but it does not establish a universal list of supported Xbox, PlayStation, or third-party Bluetooth controllers across every platform. Before purchasing a mobile gamepad, check that it is compatible with your phone or tablet and operating system, and verify that your installed version of the game recognizes it. For console and PC play, check compatibility for the controller and platform you intend to use.
On mobile, a compatible Bluetooth game controller is an optional way to play. The App Store’s controller-supported label is useful confirmation of the feature, not a guarantee for a particular accessory.
Does controller support affect cross-play or saved progress?
No. Controller support concerns how you control the game. Gameloft’s July 2024 patch notes discuss cross-play across platforms and cross-save on select platforms; those are separate multiplayer and progression features. Their availability does not mean every controller works on every device. Read the July 2024 patch notes.

Why do some sources call it Asphalt Legends Unite?
Gameloft announced that Asphalt Legends Unite replaced Asphalt 9: Legends on digital storefronts. Store names can differ: Apple’s current listing uses Asphalt Legends, while Gameloft’s announcement uses Asphalt Legends Unite. The names refer to the game in this controller-support context.
