Yes. Ghost of Yōtei has online co-op multiplayer in a separate mode called Ghost of Yōtei Legends. It did not arrive with the base game: PlayStation released Legends as a later update in March 2026. The mode is included for owners of the PS5 game, but online play requires an internet connection, a PlayStation account, and PlayStation Plus.
What multiplayer is available in Ghost of Yōtei?
Legends is an online co-op mode in which players team up against supernatural versions of the Yōtei Six. It is separate from the single-player campaign. PlayStation announced its release for March 10, 2026, with March 11 availability in some Asian, Australian, and New Zealand territories. PlayStation’s release announcement gives the regional date note.

There are three core activities—Story, Survival, and Incursion—plus the four-player Raid endgame. Their party sizes and objectives differ:

PlayStation’s Legends overview describes the three core activities and their player counts. The Raid was announced as additional content for April 2026; a later PlayStation interview with Legends lead designer Darren Bridges discusses it as the endgame activity.

Which Legends class should you choose?
Legends has four classes, each with a distinct weapon emphasis and combat role. PlayStation’s class overview describes them as follows:
- Samurai: Can wield the ōdachi and has broad access to weapons.
- Archer: Can use the yari and carry an additional ranged weapon.
- Mercenary: Fights with dual katana and has utility-focused abilities.
- Shinobi: Uses the kusarigama and stealth-focused skills.
These distinctions make class choice a matter of preferred approach: broad weapon options, ranged flexibility, utility, or stealth. The available official descriptions establish those specialties, but do not specify a required class composition for any activity.

Is Ghost of Yōtei Legends free?
Legends is included at no additional cost for owners of Ghost of Yōtei. “Free” refers to the multiplayer mode, not the base game or the online subscription: you still need the game, internet access, a PlayStation account, and PlayStation Plus for online multiplayer. PlayStation’s Legends page states the access and subscription requirements.
Ghost of Yōtei is a PS5 exclusive released October 2, 2025, according to Sucker Punch’s FAQ. The FAQ was updated September 29, 2025 and described multiplayer as a post-launch addition; Legends became available later, in March 2026.

Is more Legends content planned?
In the PlayStation interview about the Raid, Bridges said, “The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends.” He also described it as the conclusion to the Yōtei Six story in that mode. This was the studio’s stated plan at the time of the interview, not a guarantee about all future support.
The same interview characterizes the Raid as four-player, challenging content with puzzles that require players to work together. That makes it the activity in this lineup most explicitly built around coordinated teamwork.
