What is the Great Ape Vegeta fight meme?

How did the joke spread?
The format was simple: show the fight, then react to how difficult it felt. Phrases in the 2024 posts included “Ape Vegeta fight in a nutshell” and “this monke got hands.” These are examples from that conversation, not evidence of present-day search trends.

Know Your Meme reported individual-post snapshots, not total meme reach: an X post by @BarretDokkan had roughly 5 million views and 56,000 likes in three days; another by @JRads47 had more than 29,000 likes and 2,700 reposts in three days. It also reported a gameplay clip attributed to streamer @Goresh with more than 27,000 views and 1,000 likes in three days. Those figures describe the specific posts at the time, not current counts or an overall audience estimate.
Bandai Namco joined the difficulty joke
On October 8, 2024, the official Bandai Namco US account posted: “A win is a win. Lower Difficulty and Retry.” The line turned the players’ struggle into an official punchline: lowering the setting and trying again still counts as a victory.
