What carries over—and what New Game Plus adds
A new run lets Atsu use the armor, abilities, and weapons earned during the campaign from the start. New Game Plus also includes its own progression and challenge rewards:
- Harder difficulty options.
- Two trophies.
- Ghost Flowers, a new currency that can be exchanged with a vendor for more than 30 cosmetics—including armor sets and weapon dyes—and 10 charms.
- An additional upgrade tier for existing armor sets and weapons.
The same patch adds replayable post-game content, a new stats display, directional-button remapping, and Photo Mode options for shutter speed, a composition grid, and new filters. These are patch additions to the game, not features exclusive to New Game Plus.

- Choose your weapon, battle Atsu's opponents as you see fit, with levelled-up dual katanas, odachi, kusarigama and other new weapons.
How the later Complete Edition update fits in
PlayStation’s August 12, 2026 Complete Edition announcement says that edition includes additional New Game Plus cosmetics. It also describes patch v2.0, scheduled for October 1, 2026 globally and October 2 in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Those dates have passed. The announcement does not say v2.0 introduced New Game Plus: Sucker Punch had already announced the mode for patch 1.100.000 in 2025.

No. The mode was announced as a free patch for players who own Ghost of Yōtei; it is not a separate paid product. Sony lists a Standard Edition on Blu-ray for PS5 on its official game page. The later Complete Edition announcement concerns additional edition content, including more New Game Plus cosmetics.
