There is no universally best Pawn inclination in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Choose Kindhearted for support, Calm for survival-minded tactics, Simple for exploration and gathering, or Straightforward for bold attacks. Capcom describes inclinations as tendencies in a Pawn’s speech and actions—not a fixed script—and says every Pawn serves the Arisen faithfully regardless of inclination.
What does Pawn inclination affect?
Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 Official Web Manual says inclination influences a Pawn’s manner of speech and the actions it tends to take. It does not promise identical behavior in every situation or rank inclinations by effectiveness. The manual also notes that all Pawns serve the Arisen faithfully, whatever their inclination.

What are the four inclinations?
Kindhearted: support and attentiveness
Kindhearted Pawns stay attentive to the Arisen and allies, quickly offering help when needed. In battle, they favor support, including holding down foes and casting beneficial enchantments, and prefer to remain near the Arisen.
Calm: survival and defense
Calm Pawns are strategic and focused on surviving difficult encounters. They favor defense and evasion, use clever tactics, and may dispose of unneeded items in their packs on their own initiative, according to Capcom’s manual.

Simple: curiosity and gathering
Simple Pawns are earnest, adventurous, and curious. They pay attention to their surroundings and focus on gathering items; they may also share what they find with companions.
Straightforward: direct aggression
Straightforward Pawns are candid, impulsive, and bold. They can spot enemies from afar and tend to rush into fights, including encounters with large monsters. That makes them a consideration if you want a Pawn to press the attack, though their boldness can also take them into danger.

Which inclination is best for your party?
Start with the behavior you want from your Pawn. These are practical interpretations of Capcom’s descriptions, not guarantees about performance in every vocation or encounter.

A secondary Pawn guide from G2A News likewise recommends matching inclination to a Pawn’s role rather than treating one as best for everyone. The available sources do not establish a tested, vocation-by-vocation ranking, so choosing an inclination specifically for a Sorcerer or another vocation should be treated as a player preference, not an official rule.

When do you choose an inclination?
Capcom’s manual says you select an inclination for your main Pawn when entering the covenant. It does not establish the exact method, item, cost, or location for changing that choice later, so there is no verified change procedure to give here.
