Some fighters discussed in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO datamine rumors later appeared in Bandai Namco’s official DLC announcements—but empty character-ID slots never proved that every rumored fighter was cut or planned for release. The clearest confirmed outcome is Super Limit-Breaking NEO, which launched on July 30, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Here’s what the files and fan speculation did, and did not, establish.
What the datamine actually showed
Community discussion focused on gaps in character IDs and possible links to missing fighters from Budokai Tenkaichi 3. But the author of one widely discussed analysis clarified that they had not found files for those missing characters; the claims were based on empty slots and proposed identities, not confirmed fighter assets. An unfilled ID, menu asset or possible transformation mapping can have several explanations: unused allocation, a discarded idea, an NPC or model requirement, or content intended for a later release. On its own, none proves that a playable fighter was completed, cut, or reserved for DLC. The distinction matters: a numeric gap is not the same thing as a character file that identifies a fighter and demonstrates its intended role.
A separate community retrospective noted that some fighters later shown in a DLC trailer had appeared in files discussed before the Daima DLC, alongside other possible names. That makes the old lists useful as a record of what fans were examining—not authoritative evidence of Bandai Namco’s plans. Read the retrospective discussion.

Which rumored fighters were later confirmed?
Bandai Namco Europe’s January 26, 2026 announcement said a 2026 DLC would include characters, costumes, stages and modes, and named Super 17, Bardock (Super Saiyan) and King Piccolo among planned characters. Read the January announcement.
On July 30, 2026, Bandai Namco Entertainment America announced that Super Limit-Breaking NEO was available and named Super 17 and Bardock (Super Saiyan) among its characters. That is official confirmation of those two fighters in NEO; it does not establish that dataminers had reliable access to development plans, that a leak influenced the DLC, or that every other proposed name was accurate. King Piccolo was named in the earlier announcement as “King Piccolo”; the launch announcement’s examples include “Demon King Piccolo or Goku (World Tournament),” so the precise character naming should be read in the context of the publisher’s full roster information rather than treated as proof for every fan theory. What Super Limit-Breaking NEO includes
Bandai Namco’s July 30, 2026 launch announcement describes the paid DLC as adding 33 playable characters from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT, along with four Episode Battles, new Extra Battles, four new stages and the solo Limit Breaker Journey mode. The publisher’s character names are examples, not a complete roster list.
- Named character examples: Mercenary Tao, Grandpa Gohan, General Blue, Ma Junior, Chi-Chi, Demon King Piccolo or Goku (World Tournament), Mighty Mask, Supreme Kai, Uub (Kid), Zangya, Bardock (Super Saiyan), Chilled, Super 17, Vegeta (GT), Trunks (GT), Nuova Shenron, Hell Fighter 17, Champa, Jaco and Cheelai, among others.
- Limit Breaker Journey: a solo mode in which players take a chosen character through a progression journey, strengthen stats and tailor the build to their play style.
- Free update additions: the launch announcement also describes “Sparking Boost” and “Chain Blast,” plus three variations of existing stages. These are presented as free-update features, separate from the paid DLC’s characters, modes and stages.
Bandai Namco announced the DLC’s July 30 release date and platform scope on July 23, then confirmed its launch on July 30. Producer Jun Furutani’s overview was described by the publisher as covering Limit Breaker Journey and the 33 playable characters. Read the July 23 announcement.

Platforms and the status of other announced updates
In its July 30, 2026 announcement, Bandai Namco Entertainment America said the DLC was available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, with Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions to launch at a later date. That statement records the publisher’s position on that date; it does not establish whether either Switch version has since launched. Check Bandai Namco’s launch announcement.
The publisher also announced Mission 100 and Survival Mode as free updates in January 2026. The reviewed announcements do not establish their deployment status on every platform as of October 8, 2026, so an announcement should not be mistaken for confirmation that an update is available on a particular platform today. How to judge a future fighter rumor
When a new name circulates, separate the kind of evidence from the conclusion being claimed:
Quick Recap
- Officially named: a Bandai Namco announcement confirms that the publisher has announced the character. Check whether it says playable, and whether the announcement describes released or planned content.
- Character files identified: a verifiable file may support a stronger claim than an empty ID, but it still needs context to establish whether it represents a playable fighter, NPC, model, costume or transformation.
- Only an empty slot or inferred mapping: treat the identity and purpose as speculation. It does not establish a cut character or a future DLC plan.
- Later roster confirmation: if Bandai Namco subsequently names a fighter, that confirms the announced content—not the reliability of every prediction in the same leak or list.
