Electronic Arts reported $1.262 billion in net bookings for its first quarter of fiscal 2025, $12 million above the top of its own guidance range. The company attributed the result to Madden NFL 24, FC Online and FC Mobile. EA’s July 30, 2024 release does not provide an analyst-consensus figure, so it supports saying bookings beat EA’s guidance—not that they beat a separately quantified investor forecast.
What EA reported
EA’s first quarter of FY25 ended June 30, 2024. The company announced preliminary results on July 30, 2024, reporting $1.262 billion in net bookings against guidance of $1.225 billion to $1.250 billion. The result was $12 million above the high end of that range.

Which expectation did bookings exceed?
The release establishes a comparison with EA’s own forecast range. It does not state a separate analyst-consensus estimate or quantify what investors expected. Those benchmarks are not interchangeable: without a sourced consensus figure, the precise claim is that EA exceeded the high end of its guidance.

Bookings and revenue are different measures
EA reported $1.660 billion in net revenue for the quarter, distinct from its $1.262 billion in net bookings. EA defines net bookings as the net amount of products and services sold digitally or sold in physically during the period. It calculates the figure by adding total net revenue to the change in deferred net revenue for online-enabled games. Because bookings incorporates that change in deferred revenue, it should not be read as another name for revenue.
Other figures in EA’s release
- EA reported $120 million in net cash from operating activities for the quarter and $2.076 billion for the trailing twelve months.
- As a post-quarter highlight, EA said College Football 25 had 5 million unique players in its first week, with more than 500,000 additional players using the EA Play trial. EA did not identify those figures as causes of the quarter’s bookings result.
- EA announced a quarterly cash dividend of $0.19 per common share, payable September 18, 2024, to holders of record on August 28, 2024. Those payment and record dates are historical.
