How to download Genshin Impact Version 5.0
Version 5.0 launched in 2024 and has since been superseded by later updates. The available official announcements confirm its release date but do not provide a current client download link, patch size, or installation steps. For the current game, use the official Genshin Impact site or the official store for your platform, and follow its current download and update instructions.
There is no separate present-day Version 5.0 installer established by the launch information. If your goal is to play Natlan content, update the game through your platform’s official channel and check the current in-game map and quest list; access requirements and client instructions may have changed since the 5.0 launch.
What Version 5.0 added: Natlan
HoYoverse described Natlan as Teyvat’s sixth major nation and the Nation of Pyro, west of the Sumeru desert. Version 5.0 opened the region and introduced three of its six tribes: the Children of Echoes, the Scions of the Canopy, and the People of the Springs. Natlan’s varied terrain and its Saurians—creatures that coexist with humans—were central to exploration.

The three Saurian forms highlighted at launch offered distinct ways to move through the region:
- Tepetlisaurus: burrow through terrain and climb cliffs.
- Yumkasaurus: move through the air.
- Koholasaurus: travel across water.
These abilities made exploration more closely tied to Natlan’s environments and the creatures found there.
Which characters were free in Version 5.0?
The headline’s “free five-star” refers to the Standard Wish character invitation—not Kachina. Version 5.0 featured two distinct offers:

HoYoverse’s Studio Technical Director, Zhenzhong Yi, said players could recruit Kachina for free by completing Act I of Natlan’s Archon Quest; the same PlayStation Blog announcement identifies her as a four-star Geo polearm wielder. See the August 16, 2024 announcement for the launch details. The five-star selection was a separate offer, so it should not be confused with Kachina’s quest reward or assumed to be claimable now.

Who could access Natlan at launch?
These were the announced Version 5.0 progression routes, not verified current requirements. HoYoverse said an entrance Teleport Waypoint would become available after completing Mondstadt’s Archon Quest Prologue: Act III. Players at Adventure Rank 28 or higher who had completed Liyue’s Archon Quest Chapter I: Act III could proceed to Natlan’s Archon Quests without first completing other nations’ prerequisite quests.
