- Reawaken a Classic – Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.
- Modernized Gameplay – The team from 2019’s Resident Evil 2 returns to build upon the series’ modern approach to survival horror. Engage in frenzied combat with the Ganados villagers, explore a European village gripped by madness, and solve puzzles to access new areas and collect useful items for Leon and Ashley’s constant struggle to survive.
- Overwhelming Hordes – Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.
- Survive on a Knife’s Edge – Years of intense training have taught Leon new ways to use his knife, helping to even the odds against the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. By parrying enemy attacks, you can avoid debilitating damage and evade lunging enemies seeking to grab Leon and hold him in place. Make smart use of scavenged knives to deliver precise finishing moves on vulnerable enemies, and even use the element of surprise to quietly dispatch unsuspecting foes before they break.

Mac, iPhone, and iPad requirements
Capcom’s Apple app information gives different chip and OS requirements for each device class:
- Mac: Apple M1 chip or later and macOS 13.0 or later.
- iPhone: A17 Pro chip or later and iOS 17.0 or later.
- iPad: M-series or A17 Pro chip and iPadOS 17.0 or later.
Supported models can change. Check your specific device against the current App Store listing linked from Capcom’s app information; meeting an OS version alone does not establish compatibility.

Plan Apple-device storage and purchase
Capcom describes the Apple app as approximately 30 GB and says installation requires at least twice the app size in free storage. Allow for that installation space before starting; the initial app download is not necessarily the whole installation. Actual download time depends on your connection and network conditions.
The Apple app is free to download, but only a limited part of the base game can be played for free. Capcom says an in-app purchase is needed for full-game access; the listing also describes separate in-app purchases, including Separate Ways and additional content. Check the live App Store listing for current regional availability and prices.

Controls and saves on Apple devices
Capcom recommends playing the Apple version with a controller and names PlayStation, Xbox, and MFi controllers as examples, while warning that not every controller works as intended. A controller is optional, but check compatibility for your device before relying on a particular one. Keyboard and mouse are not supported in the Apple version.
Capcom says save data can be uploaded and downloaded between macOS and iOS devices. Its app information does not establish transfer between Windows and Apple versions, so do not assume a Windows save will carry over.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- As consciousness returns and you blink shadows from your eyes, all you can hear is the ringing in your ears. At first, you think it might be from the bells, as you recall racing through the Clock Tower in search of gears to sound the great bell.
- Then the blood drains from your face as the memories begin to surface. You thought you’d escaped Raccoon City. But it isn’t over yet.
- Continue your desperate escape with 11 hours of new gameplay, nine gripping new scenarios, three terrifying new enemy types, and two large-and-lethal bosses.
- This expansion will drastically change the course of your Resident Evil 3: The Board Game campaign, taking you beyond the built-up city streets to brand new locations plagued by new enemies.
- But new enemies aren’t your only threat. To move forward, you must adapt to new gameplay mechanics introduced by the changed environment. Creep silently through the City Hospital. Wade through flood water in the City Park.
