Forza Horizon 4 was removed from the Microsoft Store and Steam for new purchases on December 15, 2024. If you already own it, the publisher says you can still download and play it through your platform account. If you do not own it, the publisher’s announcement does not provide a new digital purchase route.
Can you still download Forza Horizon 4 on Windows?
Yes, if your Microsoft Store/Xbox or Steam account already has a Forza Horizon 4 entitlement. The publisher, Playground Games, announced that the game would be delisted from Microsoft Store and Steam on December 15, 2024, and said existing owners could continue to download and play it. The announcement does not explain account-specific recovery or regional exceptions. Read the delisting announcement.

What to do if you already own the game
- Identify the account and store you used to acquire it. A Steam entitlement is tied to Steam; a Microsoft Store/Xbox entitlement is tied to the relevant Microsoft account. Check the account you used when purchasing or redeeming the game.
- Open that platform’s library. Look for Forza Horizon 4 in your Steam Library or Microsoft Store/Xbox library, then select its install or download option if it appears.
- If it is missing, contact platform support. Verify that you are signed into the purchasing account and ask Steam or Microsoft/Xbox support to review the entitlement. The publisher’s delisting notice does not provide account-recovery instructions, so access may depend on your account and purchase history.
Playground Games says existing owners can download and play the game with offline, online, and multiplayer features. Its note that physical copies can work after delisting concerns those physical copies; it does not establish a Windows entitlement from buying an Xbox disc.

If you do not already own it
The publisher’s June 25, 2024 announcement says licensing and partner agreements led to the game’s removal from Microsoft Store and Steam on December 15, 2024. It says the game and additional content would no longer be available to purchase through online stores after that date. The announcement does not identify an authorized new digital purchase route. Treat third-party keys or download sites cautiously: the cited official sources do not establish that they are authorized, safe, or compatible with your account.
