To open Goku Black’s alternate route in DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, play The Ultimate Fusion and defeat all enemies. Game8’s guide advises defeating Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta within the available time; doing so avoids another fight and leads to Responsibility as a God. The guide does not give a precise timer, so check the mission’s in-game battle conditions rather than relying on a specific number of seconds.
How Goku Black’s Episode Battle works
Episode Battle retells the story through selected characters’ perspectives. Goku Black is one of eight playable perspectives, alongside Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Future Trunks, Frieza and Jiren, according to Bandai Namco Europe’s Game Modes Handbook.

The mode includes branching “What If” stories. Bandai Namco says campaigns vary in length and that players can unlock unique narratives through skill and choices. That describes the mode generally; it does not specify the trigger for each Goku Black mission.
How to unlock Goku Black’s alternate route
The Ultimate Fusion
- Continue through Goku Black’s Episode Battle until you reach The Ultimate Fusion.
- During the battle, defeat all enemies. Game8 identifies this as the condition for opening the alternate route.
- Prioritize Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta and defeat them within the time available. Game8 advises this to avoid another story fight; the route proceeds to Responsibility as a God.
- If the branch does not appear, review the mission’s in-game battle conditions and retry. The published guide describes the time condition qualitatively, not as a set number of seconds.
The mission trigger above comes from Game8’s Goku Black Episode Battle guide, a secondary walkthrough. It is not an official Bandai Namco explanation or a guarantee that one particular move or combo will work.

What the guide says about another What If route
The Truth About Zamasu is a mission in Goku’s campaign, not Goku Black’s. Game8 says defeating Zamasu and Goku Black “in a short span of time” opens Unstoppable Rage. The guide does not establish an exact time limit, so this is useful adjacent context, not a Goku Black campaign requirement. See Game8’s What If route guide.
Does Goku Black’s route require the DLC?
No such requirement is stated in the sources for this route. Bandai Namco’s July 2026 announcement says the Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC adds four Episode Battles, as well as new Extra Battles and four stages. It does not identify a Goku Black-specific change to The Ultimate Fusion or say that the DLC is needed to reach Responsibility as a God.

Why Episode Battle has alternate stories
The branches are part of Episode Battle’s design, rather than a separate Goku Black mode. Bandai Namco Entertainment America describes the campaigns as varying in length and offering branching “What If” paths that players can unlock with skill and choices in its official release announcement. The Dragon Ball Official Site’s demo report also explains the perspective-based format and illustrates how choices can affect a battle setup, using Goku and Piccolo as its example.
